Palin and O'Donnell
The Politico ^ | September 16, 2010 | Ben Smith

Posted on 09/16/2010 1:53:17 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Sarah Palin bet on Christine O'Donnell, and the victory enhances Palin's stature inside the Republican Party in that straightforward way.

More important, it shows that a candidate with her political weaknesses, only much more so -- questions about qualifications, experience, and a confrontational partisan profile, plus some sexism -- can win a Republican Party primary pretty much anywhere.

That's all good for Palin, and good for her prospects in particular of being her party's 2012 nominee.

I also can't help being reminded today by the storm of media and money on both sides of Palin's own rollout. O'Donnell, various outlets report today, thought Vince Foster was murdered, thinks condoms are an "insult," and isn't so sure about evolution. It's a festival of opposition research of the sort from which Palin never fully recovered.

O'Donnell's showing in November, though, will be important to Palin's prospects, and could hurt her as much as this week's results helped. Indeed, Palin's now yoked to some degree O'Donnell's campaign. If the Delaware conservative somehow wins this, that's a safe sign that in the right environment, Sarah Palin can be president....(continued)

They're always trying to move the goalposts on her. She's beyond that now, Ben.

It's a festival of opposition research of the sort from which Palin never fully recovered.

Which explains why the Libs and MSM have forgotten the former governor and have moved on to other targets. Sheesh.

Vince Foster committed the most ingenious suicide of all time: shooting himself, rolling himself up in a carpet, driving to the park and then depositing his own body in the woods next to a clean gun.

Truly brilliant. But I sometimes wonder why he went to all that trouble.

Sarah Palin bet on Christine O'Donnell, and the victory enhances Palin's stature inside the Republican Party in that straightforward way.

Oh come on. She bet on her four days before the election when then polls were already showing that O'Donnell had closed the gap and pulled even. By comparison, she had endorsed Ayotte weeks ago and damn near lost that one. Palin deserves no more credit for O'Donnell's win that DeMint does or Romney does. All of them jumped on the train long after it had left the station and gotten up to speed. All credit for O'Donnell's win go to O'Donnell herself and the Tea Party factions that have supported her all along with their time and their money.

“Political weaknesses”, Mr. Smith? How about a president with NO strenghts or qualifications of any kind, save the ability to lie with the aid of a teleprompter???

They are scared of Sarah. The media, all liberals, the DNC, the establishment GOP.

What they tried to do to keep O'Donnell from winning the primary is exactly what you will see in 2011 and 2012 as Sarah ramps up.

But they will fail against her too.

WHAT PALIN REPRESENTS AND HOW SHE TRUMPS LIBERALISM

This might be the dumbest column I’ve read from Ben, and that’s going some.

LOL.

I think Palin endorsed her earlier than that because I donated to her more than a week out and only after Palin announced the endorsement on Hannity.

Regardless, your point is valid, it was a very late endorsement and O’Donnell (with earlier TP supporters) deserves the vast majority of the credit.

Palin probably did have polls showing her closing on Castle, but the public polls showing a dead heat only came out a few days before the election, and after the endorsement. Even O’Donnell gives her credit. She raised money (like mine), and her robocall and radio spots probably did help.

While many might be hooting and hollering about how much DeMint or Palin impacted the outcome, I’ve not heard Palin or DeMint say any such thing. I have heard O’Donnell graciously thank them.

I think its called being a team.

People endorse candidates all the time. Suppose Mitt Romney had endorsed Ron Johnson, who won the Wisconsin R Primary on Tuesday. Would Politico now be trumpeting headlines about how Romney’s fate is henceforth tied to Johnsons?

No. Because they are using Alinsky tactics against both O’Donnell (singling her out and demonizing her) and Palin (guilt by association).

It’s crap and it won’t fly. It’s also a bit ironic that they only put forth these theories when it’s two attractive conservative women who aren’t part of the Ruling Class.

It’s pretty damned transparent, is what it is...

And what does the next Senator from Delaware have to say on the subject?

"Thank you, Gov. Palin, for your endorsement," the Tea Party candidate said. "Because she got behind us war-weary folks, and gave us a boost of encouragement when we needed it."

“Qualifications, experience, confrontational, partisan, sexist”, Ben? Why did you ignore these problems, which exist exponentially in the person of Imam Obama? Bob
