It was a startling breach of security when the now-infamous shoe thrower got as close to President Bush as he did. Equally sobering was Sajid Ali Khans daring, courageous, lunatic book plugging on Sunday. While the image of something nearly sailing over an oblivious Obamas head arouses immature giggling in some (read: me), we certainly should take these incidents seriously and protect public officials at all costs. Most people harbor no ill intentions, but it only takes one deranged person to inflict maximum harmand they only have to be successful once.
Sarah Palin has received her share of threats from maniacal individuals, the most recent (and curiously underreported) being a death threat prior to speaking at the Combat Vets for Congress fundraiser last Saturday. Since only a handful of local news outlets mentioned the threat against the former Governor, details are limited. San Diegos 10 News reports:
A death threat against her before the event caused organizers to beef up security.
Combat Veterans for Congress Chairman Joseph John said the group was very concerned about her security. Sheraton hotel manager Warren Nocon told the newspaper the hotel had planned to have security at the fundraiser even before the threat was revealed.

This level of protection seems non-negotiable at this point, doesnt it? Creepy camera guy at the airport, anyone? Its time. While part of her appeal is her endearing willingness to engage everyone she meets, she needs vigilant security from now on. I dont think this will inhibit her much, though. If anyone can still reach out to others beyond a tight security detail, its Sarah Palin.
Why? SHe ain’t running for anything yet. Maybe you could use the SS protection too? You seem to be an appendage to her. Like a goiter.
If I look up "obtuse" in the dictionary, will I see your picture? Is your misogyny in fourth gear today?
He's easy to point out.......
I think these guys agree with you...
But he was a declared candidate for the presidency. Right now Palin is a private citizen, nothing more.
Good Advice. Disagreement allowed.
I do stand by my earlier statement(s).
Then she needs to hire the best private personal protection officers she can find. Like these guys: http://www.reynoldsprotection.com/Executives.html
And I’m sure she has the money for it. I’m also sure that Palin is no fool, and that if she thinks she or her family are in danger then she’s taking the appropriate steps. As are the police departments wherever she’s visiting.
Thank you. Living my whole life in ND, I would feel the same way as Sarah in such a situation.
For some, they've already been given a 'hallway pass' to go after her:
Letterman- Slutty stewardess look
SNL- "I can see Russia from my house."
Katie Couric- "you don't read anything?".
Charles Gibson- "Bush's Doctrine?".
Letterman, again- "Her daughter (oops! wrong one!) doing A-rod in the locker room."
See, the Left (communists, socialists, collectivists, brownshirts, fascists, all) do not tolerate individuals- at..all. Any number of them would be willing to 'take one for the team'. For them, it is all about the 'team', at any cost.
Fortunately, the constitution was written for we- the individual- against the 'collective' (state).
Yes, Sarah should have the best of security. Among those assigned to such duty I would hope individual effort has not only been recognized, but essential in promotion and placement. A couple of days on detail, these guys take it to a new level- new textbook security level.
PS, I'll shop at Target soon to send a message to the gay fascists boycotting the store. "Please don't get between me and the entrance if you don't want your sign to become your newest boyfriend."
