Look out, Sarah Palin: America's mayor is coming for you. The New York Post reports that former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani has called up his top political advisers and is preparing for a foray into New Hampshire in advance of the 2012 presidential election. Anonymous sources told the Post Giuliani "thinks the Republican race will be populated with far-right candidates like Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin, and Mike Huckabee, and there's opportunity for a moderate candidate with a background in national security." His best friends don't necessarily agree. "Even Rudy loyalists" think the idea of another run is "crazy." The former mayor came in fourth in the Republican primary in New Hampshire three years ago....

"Sarah Palin is conservative, more so than any potential candidate since Reagan."

Sarah was was more of a McCain style opponent of corruption in her reign as Governor of Alaska than an ideological champion of limited government. That was also the case when you look at her in the 2008 campaign as McCain's running mate. A lot of her statements now do not match up with her earlier positions. One can argue that she is learning, or that she is repositioning herself as a result of the growing popularity of the Tea Party movement. Either way, I would prefer someone who has an ideologically consistent record to someone whose opposition to big government has coincided with the sudden popularity of that position among a growing segment of the population.

No. They are not. A liberal fronted by the Republican party removes the voice of conservatism from American politics. That is several orders of magnitude worse.

Should I assume Rudy’s planning on something other than the last flaccid attempt?

there is definitely a crowd of insiders who are determined to stop Palin. There also seems to be another crowd who are equally determined to stop MITTSTER. And NH is the place to do it.
