Palin's Unpresidential Calendar (She's skipping NBC/Politico debate, as she should)
The Wall Street Journal ^ | John Fund

Posted on 03/08/2011 10:43:44 AM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

Yesterday Sarah Palin sent another signal that she probably won't enter the 2012 presidential race when it was announced she would be doing an event in Denver on May 2—the same day as the first Republican presidential debate.

Ms. Palin has agreed to appear in suburban Lakewood at a "Tribute to the Troops with Sarah Palin," a fundraiser for the families of fallen soldiers in suburban Denver. John Andrews, a former GOP gubernatorial nominee who heads the Centennial Institute, says Ms. Palin will not accept a fee and all proceeds from the event will go to family members who have lost breadwinners in combat.

The political significance of her acceptance lies in the fact that the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library is set to hold the first debate among presidential candidates on May 2, an event moderated by Brian Williams of NBC and John Harris of Politico.com....

This is a trap, designed to give Republicans a chance to destroy each other in public. They will have no Dem candidate to attack, demean or belittle so they will have to eat their own, just as the dems did in their primary against Bush’s second term. This will be a source of many leads for the left’s “Opposition Research” teams and it won’t cost them a dime. Any serious contender who shows up is, in my studied opinion, really not smart enough to be president.

Q: Mr Gingrich, do you still screw around on your wife, and what do you think about that stuff in the Middle east?

Q: Mr DeMint, our polls show that 99% of Americans think you hate minorities, and why don’t you support the president’s well thought out plan to balance the budget by July?

Q: Mr Romney, how can you call yourself a real Mormon when you only have one wife? It’s not like you can’t afford it, you rich bastard.

NBC and Politico?

Wake up, people!

I mean the other candidates who are doing things other than that debate that day. Personally, I think it’s kind of early at this point (and I’m apparently not alone). And apparently Governor Palin and those other folks agree. I don’t think they’re flakes, any more than I think the candidates who will show up are automatically idiots for doing it, so I think it’s absurd that she’s the only one that Fund’s treating like a flake.

What date is the first primary? Iowa, I guess.

My guess is that Governor Palin will declare just a few weeks before the Iowa caucus. (Unless there are some rules that makes it obligatory to sign up months ahead.)

The day after the presidential election she said on local radio in Alaska that if she would run, she would have to run a completely unconventional campaign. I think it may still be on the cards.

The US (and the world) could do much, much worse than President Palin. (In fact we already have!)

She is the only one that stands up to Obama now. Not much gets by her and she is quick and unafraid to voice her opinion. None of the rest of them say a peep, especially Mittens.

The self promoting publicity tours of Palin and Hannity under the guise of doing it for the charity case troops , demean the sacrifices of our military. As a vet and the father of a Navy Captain, I call bullshit on your opinion.

All this PDSer "kbennkc" has been spewing lately is hate and lies. Yesterday, he insinuated that Gov. Palin wanted to be on the receiving end of a kinky sex act with a member of the media.

That alone should have gotten the "kbennkc" troll banned. But, he's a longtimer, so he gets a pass.

Unbelievable that someone here would say something like that.

Wow. That is a new level of PDS. In addition to what others have pointed out, I would like to add that Governor Palin is proud of her Veteran Son. You gotta look in the mirror Dude and see if there is anything worth salvaging.

“The debates is where she needs to shine.
I support her candidacy, assuming there is one, but I will not support her nomination, or vote for it, until I see her perform well in a debate against someone a LOT smarter than Biden!”

I like Sarah Palin but I agree with you that she has got to step up and join the debates. If she can’t hold her own in the ring then she has no business being President. We have a few good candidates for 2012. I have never felt that she would run in 2012.

Personally I am a big Cain and Bachmann fan and as much as we all love to bash Newt he would eat Obama’s lunch in a debate and we have got to win in 2012 or its all over.

kbennkc is not a long-timer.

I’m a long timer and I do not expect a pass if I violate the rules or ethis of this forum.

I’m glad someone reported abuse on him.

Electability is a good byword to steer your course by - but if you are navigating by that star and ended up with Bachman or Cain or Newt.......

This debate is going to be a non-event. No one is going to watch and most of those who show up aren't going to be factors in the race anyway.

why should Palin help others get exposure when she can appear anywhere on her own to speak on issues she wants to address and get all the coverage she wants.

You are clearly clueless about their great mutual relationship with the U.S. military.

Now, that you have been informed--get lost.

The Politico Debate? An early debate manufactured by the occupation media and elite to destroy the conservative movement? Why?

Sounds pretty shallow to me as well. You’d think that Al Jezeera-loving Hillary Clinton would merit consideration. Now there’s a real lover of women for you, if you know what I mean! Bob
