Even with $1B war chest, President Obama could be in trouble against GOP rival
The Lodi News-Sentinel ^ | April 9, 2011 | Joe Guzzardi

President Barack Obama's official announcement that he will seek re-election came as no surprise on Capitol Hill.

I (for one) don't understand it. Why doesn't Obama quit while he's sort of ahead? Obama's already experienced the exhilaration of being swept into the White House on a wave of national adulation, won the Nobel Prize, hosted state dinners and traveled in luxury on the taxpayer's dime with Michelle to plush far-away places. To Obama, that's old hat. What lies ahead for him is a brutal re-election campaign that he may not survive. And even if he wins, he'll be paralyzed in his second term by a Congress controlled by House and Senate Republicans. Obama will be a figurehead president.

So, repeating my earlier question: Why not retire, become what I'll loosely refer to as a statesman, give speeches around the globe for astronomical sums and write a book? If Sarah Palin made millions on her autobiographies, Obama could earn tens of millions.

Obama's joy ride from four long years ago has crashed and burned. No longer is Obama the relatively unknown first-term Illinois senator and the first African-American seeking to reclaim the presidency for the Democrats from the widely unpopular George W. Bush.

His successful 2008 strategy that included brass bands on stages decked with American flags won't cut it in 2012.

"Change you can believe in," Obama's hypnotizing campaign pledge, stands exposed today as the empty words they always were.

Among Obama's broken promises are the 3 to 5 million jobs that he didn't deliver on. And while his adorning audience in the mainstream media like to promote the infinitesimal decline in the unemployment rate from 8.9 to 8.8 percent as a "recovery," numerous studies found that the precious few jobs created during the last few months paid between $9 and $12, an unlivable wage.

The trend won't end any time soon. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that nearly 400,000 food preparation and service jobs will be created by 2018 (average pay: $16,430), while only 11,100 financial examiner jobs (average pay: $70,930) will be created.

Republicans should have a heyday attacking Obama's failed fiscal policies, which include his controversial health care package, rammed through Congress against the American people's will, the wasteful stimulus programs and the stalled budget negotiations.

What Obama hopes will bail him out will be his $1 billion war chest that he's off and running to accumulate. If you're a skeptic of money in politics, a $1 billion campaign should truly disgust you.

The Congressional newspaper The Hill wrote that that Obama's formal filing to run in 2012 gives him the legal opportunity to use the campaign infrastructure his staffers have already secretly built to start his aggressive fundraising effort.

Obama may be in for a rude surprise. Even his most fawning ultra-liberal Hollywood fans have soured on Obama. Matt Damon, informally representing his peer group, told CNN that he thinks Obama is a failure.

In the end, 2012 will not be about Obama. After four years, America knows what it has in the Oval Office. As the old saying goes, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

Obama has to keep his fingers crossed for this is not only about $1 billion. That huge sum won't be enough to save him against an effective Republican challenger. In their conversations with each other, Obama's advisers have to be praying for the Republican ticket to be headed by someone as inept as John McCain. If that happens, Obama's path would be all downhill.

He's right, no Gomer Newt-McRomneylenty candidates this time. And stating that your fundraising goal is $1 billion isn't the same thing as having that in the bank.

I’m hoping the “magic negro” does run for re-election.
I want to see the marxist bastard go around the country being booed and protested by the extreme left and right.

Obama's billion dollar warchest? That's a laugh.

THE FACTS ARE THESE

Obama's so-called "2012 fundraising network" is a phony. He claims to be the first billion dollar candidate---but take it from me----it won't be from "campaign donations" and "fund-raisers." After two years in office, Obama's got zillions stashed offshore (looted from the US Treasury during the infamous trillion dollar "bailouts"). Ohaha's gonna be wire-transferring like crazy to save himself and endangered Dems--after the debacle of Midterms.

ITEM Obama held an "intentionally small" DNC fund-raiser dinner at the Red Rooster in Harlem last week-----maaning they couldn't even giveaway tickets to the $30,000 per head funder.

ITEM Obama's recent Bostpn fundraiser started out as a $5,000 a plate then dropped to $500 a plate ... but he still could not fill the room——Ohaha ended up talking to a little over 100 people.

ITEM Remember, Ohaha raised a whopping $750 million for his 2008 presidential bid----- purportedly from "anonymous foreign donors" who flooded his 2008 campaign with hundreds of thousands of relatively small, untraceable illegal donations.

Reminds me of the excellent book---"Flawless"----about the half a $$$billion Antwerp diamond heist. The crooks couldn't spend it, of course, without calling attention to themselves. So they had to invent a highly visible money-maker to account for their spending.......they pretended a multi-million dollar movie deal about their heist was in the works.

Can't wait to see the cover story Ohahas come up with for all those "campaign donations."

Not to mention his foreign donors aren’t happy with his performance.

Even George Soros has been quoted as saying Obama has been a disappointment.

I’m betting even odds that he’ll flee the country with his war chest.

He'll do whatever Michelle demands of him.

He’s also a con man. I don’t think he’s above telling Michelle that he’s going out for ice cream, but not tell her that he’s going to buy it in Indonesia or where ever he can go where the US cannot touch him.

I was thinking the same thing.

He has definitely lost Europe. His disrespect to Europe has been less than subtle.

No more contributions from Libya, a major donor last time.

His primary supporter and patron Saudi must be happy that he shut down almost all American oil production and worked to raise the price of oil. However, Obama is weak, fickle, and unreliable. He has done nothing to check Iran and has supported revolution and the MB all of which are threats to the Saudi ruling class.

The biggest winner has been Iran but I doubt they will contribute. Obama turned his back on the protests in Iran but supported revolution in Egypt and Libya.

He has shown that he is entirely untrustworthy, unreliable, and unfaithful to any agreements, promises, or core values of any kind. He has the demonstrated that he will throw anyone under the bus without a second thought.

He has a unique talent for pissing people off. In almost everything he is involved in, when he is done, no one is happy and everybody hates him personally. In that sense only can he be called the ‘great uniter’.

No, it is not going to work this time. The only thing that could save Obama, is if the Pubs nominate another pro-Obama candidate like McCain.

Obama has no chance of winning again without massive voter fraud over about 10 states. He cannot win any southern border state except CA. Recent events show that WI is gone for him as well and the battleround states in the Midwest are in Republican control. He cannot raise enough money to fool enough people this time.

I won’t pretend to know who’s going to win in 2012 at this point (or even who the GOP nominee will be). But, unless the Republicans really blow it with their 2012 candidate, (always a possibility) several barely-blue states in 2008 are going to be solid red this time, I think. I’d bet on Indiana, Ohio, North Carolina and Florida going GOP with decent-to-comfortable margins.

I’d also give the GOP even to better-than-even odds in Virginia, Nevada, Colorado and Iowa right now. I’m hoping Wisconsin and mighty Pennsylvania will be within the grasp in 2012, but I’ve had my heart broken by those two before.

All just MHO, of course. Which is probably worth everything you’re paying for it :-) .

I’ll believe in Barrack Hussein Obama’s heartfelt conversion to Christianity before I believe Trump suddenly converted to a conservative.

Correct and wait until next year when the dollar is really in the toilet and gas at $5 a gallon and the double dip is a reality. Barry will be lucky to avoid Leavenworth much less get re-elected.
