Is Sarah Palin Preparing for a Presidential Run? (BOR & K-Hammer talk-down the ladies, praise men)
Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor ^ | July 19, 2011 | Bill O'Reilly and Charles Krauthammer, MD

Posted on 07/20/2011 9:51:01 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

BILL O'REILLY, HOST: In the "Back of the Book" segment tonight: New York Post columnist Cindy Adams writes today that Sarah Palin may very well run for president. Ms. Adams citing the governor's intense study routine as evidence she is preparing for the fray. Joining us now from Washington to analyze that possibility, and also the Rick Perry factor, Fox News analyst Charles Krauthammer. So if Governor Palin does get into the race, what happens?

CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER, FOX NEWS CONTRIBUTOR: Well, it gets very interesting, it gets very complicated, and the rowboat gets very crowded. Bodies are going to start to go overboard. If you look at the latest polls, you've got only four candidates, potential candidates, in double digits. You've got Romney at 25, Bachman at 14, Palin at 12, Perry at 10. Now, if you look -- that means that if Palin enters the race, she and Bachmann are going to fight it out for mostly the same constituency, and that is not -- it's not a question of sexism or gender. It's a question of who their constituencies are. They are both strong with the Tea Party. Bachmann is the head of the caucus in the House. Palin, of course, supported it, is very strong among Tea Partiers, exploited that, used that to her advantage in helping a lot of candidates in the midterm elections. So if you add up their percentages, they're roughly equal to Romney. One of them would emerge as the major opponent. And right now...

O'REILLY: Well, I think you're right. I don't think Sarah Palin is going to take any votes away from Mitt Romney. It's a whole different...

KRAUTHAMMER: Exactly. It's a whole different constituency....

So only the Tea Party supports both Gov. Palin and Rep. Bachmann? Huh?

Well it appears as though this different constituency is a shrinking and irrelevant one. Bachmann is out polling Mitt in certain polls.

Ted Baxter is a Democrat and Krouthammer didn't even vote for Reagan either time. Not the types of people to take serious in an election cycle like this.

The last time we elected someone to the presidency with only the House of Representatives on their govermental resume was in a weird four-way race. Hint: He was tall and liked stove-pipe hats. We elect governors to the White House all the time.

Why would he vote for Mr. Reagan while working for Mr. Mondale and Mr. Carter? That’d be strange!

I think I’m going to start assembling a list of all the prognosticators. The ones who turn out to be right will be the ones whose opinions will be pre-qualified in the election of 2016 or ‘20.

I do admire the confidence that characterizes all of you that permits you to float your thoughts on tsunamis of absolute certainty.

So what they are saying is the tea party represents 25% of the vote, which is too insignificant to take seriously. Yet, we must all pander to the <1% gay vote.

Or, you could look at it that the Tea Party people are not too likely to support Romney, Huntsman.

I still don’t see Romney having as big of a lead as they are saying. However between the moderates and indie votes, that may be so.

When I saw Kraut was going to be on BOR, I knew what they would say. They’ve said it before, so it was easy to change the channel. NCIS has a much better storyline than these two.

WHY I’M DEPRESSED—humor

Over five thousand years ago, Moses said to the children of Israel, “Pick up your shovels, mount your asses and camels, and I will lead you to the Promised Land.”

Nearly 75 years ago, (when Welfare was introduced) Roosevelt said, “Lay down your shovels, sit on your asses, and light up a Camel, this is the Promised Land.”

Today, the government has stolen your shovel, taxed your asses, raised the price of Camels and mortgaged the Promised Land to China. I was so depressed last night thinking about my retirement, the economy, the wars, lost jobs, etc. that I called a Suicide Hotline. I had to press 1 for English. I was then connected to a call center in Pakistan . I told them I was suicidal. They got excited and asked if I could drive a truck...

Add me to your list. For weeks I’ve been saying Sarah will run based on several things like the house purchase in Arizona, the bus tour, the movie, and more recently Bristol’s comments.

The actions and changing meme on FOX is lending support to my theory. For months the commentators on FOX have been in lockstep in their opinion that Sarah won’t run. There was a story posted on FR that indicated their universal mindset may have been orchestated by FOX to disuade Sarah from running. A few weeks back, there was a meeting between Sarah and FOX executives. I believe Sarah told them she was running. Since that time, she has not appeared on FOX. Last week, Greta broke the mold and predicted Sarah would run. Now we have this story, and even though BOR and Kraut still say they don’t believe she’s running, they are discussing what a Sarah Palin run would mean based on Cindy Adams’ belief that she is running. My personal belief is that they know she is running and have to change their meme now so as not to look like idiots when she announces.

Well, I think you're right. I don't think Sarah Palin is going to take any votes away from Mitt Romney.

Well I agree with BOR on this... Romney is Mr. 20%. If you look at polls going back to 2007, the guy has been stuck on the number. That is why Huck took him out in Iowa and McCain (who did not have a dime in the campaign account) beat him in NH.

If Palin gets into the race, the polls go to Palin 25%, Romney 20%, Bachmann 15%, Perry 10%. Pawlenty and Huntsman are non-factors. Then it is a state by state race.

Not "only." It's their base. Tea Party is not Romney's base, clearly.

No need to twist the words here.
