McCain: GOP on 'Super Committee' Will Fight Tax Increases (Laff Riot!)
NewsMax ^ | August 3, 2011 | Jim Meyers and Kathleen Walter

Sen. John McCain tells Newsmax he can’t blame Americans for being disgusted by Congress and the president’s performance in the debt ceiling crisis, but insists that Republicans were determined not to “betray” voters’ 2010 election mandate to cut federal spending.

The GOP’s 2008 presidential candidate vows he will be fighting “on the Senate floor” against deep cuts in military spending, states that he favors eliminating all agricultural subsidies, calls pork barrel spending “corruption,” and charges that President Obama was a “bystander” in the debt ceiling debate.

The Arizona legislator also says he is “very concerned” about another four years under Obama, but is confident that Republicans will take the White House in 2012.

Now that the debt ceiling crisis has been averted and spending cuts agreed upon, further cuts will be left to 12-member Congressional joint committee.

In an exclusive interview with Newsmax.TV, Sen. McCain was asked how much faith he has in the committee’s ability to agree on spending cuts and tax increases.

Partisanship in Washington, he says, “is bred by a difference in philosophy between ourselves and the Democrats and President Obama. Fundamentally, we believe in shrinking the role of government and cutting spending, and they have the opposite view.

“I believe these 12 individuals will very likely come to some agreement. But I also believe our Republican members on this committee will state at the outset that we will not support tax increases.....

Doesn't his wife have enough money coming in from those breweries for him to retire on? He gets a congressional and a Navy retirement, too...

So we are going to be spared the expense of the rest of the Congressional members to save money?

What will happen:

The super committee will fail to provide recommendation on spending reductions with the committee deadlocked at 3-3.

Congress, facing a 1 trillion dollar plus Sequestration, will pass a law stopping the sequestration.

It will be signed by Obama.

The first tranche cuts are all we are going to get, but Obama will get all 2.4 trillion of debt ceiling increase.

Instead of "fighting" tax increases on the super committee why not just use majority vote in the House to block taxes. Oh I forgot that was the old constitutional way of doing the people's business. Nowadays we just shuffle it off to some committee and then throw our hands up in the air and feign helplessness.

Much like Obama making speeches about being the adult, subjective, 3rd party voice of reason doing his best to herd the congressional cats. Meanwhile he is the most steadfast impediment to negotiations.

Only if we get six hobbits on the GOP side.

Which is about as likely as a witless halfling reaching Mount Doom.

I have seen several news stories talk about the Obama campaign raising 1 billion dollars for the election.

I would like to thank the speaker and our fearless GOP fighters in congress for making the first major donation to the Obama campaign. 2.4 Trillion dollars of Obama money. I am sure Obama will spend it well to shore up his base.

How in the world could any sane person consider this a success when it does not even touch one entitlement?

Even if the six best GOP are put on the Politburo, Obama breaks ties.

McCain is making himself look like an idiot in a high profile. Most who followed him already knew it was time for him to resign. Way past time. Half (at least) of his votes were for Palin. Enjoy life. Leave your obsessive control freak destructive angles to some one who cares please.
