Agreed - it’s a bit like buying a book and not letting anyone else read it!
My understanding of US copyright law, which I have to work with most days, is that excerpts of no more than 5% of the total article are considered fair use for commentary, with proper credit and without selectively and creatively excerpting so as to put the copyright holder in bad repute.
I prefer to err on the side of caution, as fair use is always a judgement call and, since it is a good chunk of my livelihood now, I’d rather not spend everything on attorneys!
Mild joke.
I live in a ward that has voted Labour as long as the party has existed. As a member of the Conservative action commitee for our ward, it gets dispiriting!
Above my paygrade! Sorry..I just knew where to find the list.
Hold on. Maybe we can turn the tide here and start the march of capitalism and freedom back onto the world scene.
One thing people are ignoring is that the US military gave enormous help to Colombia in dealing with the problem of its drug gangs, both the leftist “revolutionary guerrillas” like FARC and the paramilitaries formed to fight them. US Special Forces are due a lot of the credit for finally controlling the situation there. They were nearly pulled out under Clinton, who let the situation get so bad he wanted Colombia to essentially cede about half of its territory to these gangs. Bush changed all that as soon as he got into office, one of the best things that he did during his term, IMHO. He had the cooperation of Colombia’s president.
IIRC, Mexico requested military help sometime ago and was turned down. I don’t think Obama really wants to control the drug gangs there, because they have close ties to Cuba and VZ (transshipment points for drugs from South America) as well as to left-wing forces in Mexico. Don’t forget the leftist municipal union riots that broke out when Calderon (conservative party) was elected; they actually tried to prevent him from taking office, and they are very powerful.
The problem now is that Mexico no longer trusts the US in any way. Obama is much more left-wing than the Mexican government, and in addition I think that after Fast and Furious any possibility of trust is pretty much gone.
I hope so. Just posted something that looks promising from the UK perspective here:

We got rid of our hopey changey New Labour lot last election - but not completely, which is why we have coalition rule at the moment.
5% does sound familiar.
There is a link on the main forum for the 2004 copyright list thread. I don’t know if there are other sources within the thread or not. I think a page with just the info and no chat would be better. Something regulars cannot post to. Just the info we need.
Good to have Conservative here from across the pond.
Great points.
All Obama has done is make Mexico angry by saying they aren’t helping and then we find out that Obama-Holder have given guns to the Mexican cartels. How can there be any trust between our countries?
Perry has a working relationship with Mexico and his outreach would probably be very effective toward getting this border criminal activity cleaned up and the border sealed.
I do think that Fox would trust Perry. They have worked together for a while know, and know each other.
If Mexico requested help in dealing with the cartels, I think it would be provided.
Lets face it - half of the troubles on the border and with illegal immigration are either the cartels or people actively trying to escape them.
Thank you!
I have been reading here for years, but never got around to making an account until very recently.
It’s good to have a place to get information and to have discussions!
I see that “campaign news” and “texas” have now been added as “topics” but “extended news” or “front page” news still is refused. Who plays around with those “topic” designations? It sure can bury a thread when you remove them.
You’ll find the same one one listed here noting updated 2011

I get bumped off at times..usually when I have to shut down when I can’t do it properly..I stay logged in as FR is my homepage. Be sure to check “convenient” on your log in so you don’t have to type your password..a click on the line enters it automatically.
Fox...you refer to Vicente Fox, former Mexican President?
What am I missing here...I believe the current President is Calderon.
?
The current president is Calderon. Fox was also from the PAN (conservative party), although he turned out to be somewhat of a flake on a personal level and I don’t think he and Bush really got along that well, especially after Fox took up a bit of populist anti-Americanism. Also, Fox didn’t handle the drug cartel problem very effectively; he made a few stabs at it but wasn’t willing to make the commitment that Calderon has made.
There is a strong connection between the cartels and government corruption in Mexico, and a strong connection between government corruption and the leftwing government employee unions (including the teachers) and parties.
Thank you for the link. It won’t load for me. Where is that found?
Being “knocked” off the forum happens to me when I’m posting, when on I come back to FR or in between postings. These events usually happen in the early morning.
The screen is always there for me to just “click” back in but it does seem to be done for a reason.
......”Perry went over an immigration record that extends far beyond the tuition issue.
He said he vetoed a Texas bill that would have given illegal immigrants driver’s licenses, helped pass a bill requiring voter identification at the polls, spent $400 million on security measures to help seal the state’s border with Mexico, and strongly opposed granting amnesty to people who illegally entered the United States.
No one in the GOP field, he said, “has been any stronger on securing our border.”
He also said he may favor sending U.S. troops into Mexico to combat the drug trade.
“It may require our military in Mexico working in concert with them to kill these drug cartels and keep them off of our borders,” he said.”....

MANCHESTER, New Hampshire Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry said on Saturday he would get the U.S. military involved in Mexico’s war with drug cartels, in comments likely to upset the Mexican government.
...........................................................
I believe MSNBC is deliberately misintepreting Rick Perry in this article.
Well: Of course they are.
Obama has alraedy involved the US in Mexico’s War with drug Cartels, by supplying Criminal drug cartels with weapons.
I would think Mexico would appreciate our military helping them clean up Obama’s mess a lot more than they appreciate the mess Obama and Holder have made.
I don’t know if we need Rick Perry, I do know we don’t need Barrack HUSSEIN Obama.
Ask yourself this:
If Eric Holder and Obama were not involved in this developing scandal, would they promote one of the men that was? Reassign others.
Or would they come down to the ATF and the FBI and start lobbing off heads and dumping people in jail?
