Hi Sam. Off to work, but I’ll try to answer quickly re: Perry and eminent domain issues.
Texas’ eminent domain laws, due to a flaky court ruling several years ago, gave the landowner virtually no power. For instance, all the condemning authority had to do is make a lowball offer and taking procedures could begin. Virtually no negotiations. I can give you dates and names of cases later if you want.
State reps repeatedly worked on correcting legislation, only to have Perry stall or veto ever since Kelo. (Texas legislature meets for a few months every other year, which I think is probably the secret to our current success. The less interference the better, in general.)
Only after massive public pressure, along with the TTC debacle and its threat to a massive amount of public land, did Perry even begin saying the right things. He couldn’t even get an endorsement from the Texas Farm Bureau, and he’s a farm boy who used to be Ag Commissioner!
Finally, last year, the legislature turned so solidly Republican that new eminent domain reform was passed by a majority high enough that if Perry didn’t sign it, he faced an override. It’s on the books now.
I’m currently dealing with Oncor and a wind-energy power line easement, so I’m well-versed on the subject.
As for Perry’s plurality in 2006, his opposition was a Dem legislator named Chris Bell who had no money and no name recognition at all, Carol McCurry Keeton Strayhorn Rylander not-necessarily-in-that-order (who billed herself as “one tough grandma”), and Kinky Friedman.
Under the circumstances, a sitting gov getting only 10% more than the nearest competitor in that race is shameful.

The point was that all this talk of the value of government "executive experience" of Governors does mot jibe with reality. It's not like you can point to how good governors are as Presidents. The rhetoric does not match reality, therefore the value of government "executive experience" from being a governor is dubious. More than that, I believe we need to end the reliance on professional career politicians for our leadership. It has not worked out and we can see that the People do not trust them. Its time to return to finding the top person for the job not just the top politician.

Having a lousy plan is no better than no plan. Perry is treating this like a marathon, not a sprint because he has a ton of money. He’ll put out one thing at a time...you’ll probably see a jobs and energy policy outline coming up.
KBH won three Texas Senate elections with 67%,61%,65% and 62% of the vote. In 2010 she had the backing of the Bush clan and Dick Cheney in her run against Rick Perry. As for Perry bringing in conservatives from outside Texas, BFD! This is hardball politics. Politicians campaign for other candidates all over the country. Sarah Palin endorsed Rick Perry in 2010 and even came to Texas to campaign for him.

That is true. As I pointed out Perry has governed as a conservative for the last 11 years. His policies have kept Texas competitive in creating jobs, keeping taxes low with restraints on spending. Along with serious tort reform and reductions in regulations. Perry also signed a bill into law that closed down ALL Planned Parenthood abortion on demand clinics throughout the state of Texas.
You need to get your facts straight and keep them straight.
I saw a poster unabashedly state that “Sarah is the closest thing we have to Jesus on earth”.

Well, maybe you’re right but her speech in St Louis sure got the positive attention of a lot of people. One would think Sarah’s talking points would seep into the debate.
Stop this “Sarah is a very special American nonsense” please ... So many of us told you she wasn’t running, she knew it months ago and should have been upfront, she helped Romney in fact because the conservatives were all standing on the sidelines and not getting involved but waiting. So, she’s really not that special, just a mere human like so many of the rest of us ...

The fact is that of all my Texan friends very few, if any, are fans of Perry. The best I ever get is “ Yeah, well I guess he’s OK. (Sigh.)” His diving national compaign is systematic of the problems he has in selling himself and his record......tout him all you want, but he has major PR problems, and doesn’t seem to get much traction. I, for one, would have to strech a lot to get even a small iota of enthusiam for a Perry candidacy.
Question????? Do you think he’ll ask Sarah Palin for help again? Heck, he enlisted her to beat KBH when his record couldn’t do it on it’s own. History shows Sarah almost single handidly drug McCain over the line in 2008 despite his best efforts to sabatoge his own campaign.
Maybe she could do that for Perry? After all, he is marginally better candidate than McCain.
Last year when Palin endorsed Perry for reelection, she also endorsed John McCain and Michelle Bachmann too. Like I said, the Bush clan and Dick Cheney backed Kay Bailey Huchinson in the 2010 Texas Governors race. This stuff happens all the time. Its politics. Conservatives coming to Texas to endorse Perry is not a big deal. I seriously doubt Palin will be endorsing anyone for the GOP nomination. Several of the candidates have spoken to Palin since she declined to run. Santorum is the only one I've heard by name who asked Palin for her personal backing.

This Conservative won’t be comming. I’m looking for a real not faux Conservative. That, by definition eliminates Perry from contention.
I don’t care if you’re coming or going. You ain’t fooling anyone. After Palin burned your ass, now Cain is your savior.
Before this is over with, you’ll be backing Romney/Cain. LOL
