Mitt Romney appeared to be softening to the Occupy Wall Street protests on Monday, taking a more sympathetic tone as he remarked on the movement, which he had called dangerous just a week before.
I look at whats happening on Wall Street and my view is, boy, I understand how those people feel, he said at a town hall event in Hopkinton, N.H. Because with median income down 10% ... with chronic unemployment, long-term unemployment worse even than the Great Depression, the people in this country are upset. And I understand middle Americans saying, Wait a second, whats going on? This wasnt the deal. How can this be?
Gone was the rhetoric of last week, when he suggested the protesters were engaged in class warfare.
As a matter of fact, I dont worry about the top 1%, Romney said in response to a question about how to close the wealth gap. I dont sit up nights worrying about do we need to help them. ... They are doing just fine by themselves.(continued)

He's such an ass and such a democrat. Get out of our party and go face Obozo in a primary.
Government mandated healthcare, pandering to the homosexuals, and now you're pandering to the unwashed, worthless protesters . . . what the hell are you doing in our party? Just what we need . . . Dole/McLame/Romney . . . 3 pathetic losers.

Romney appears to have a pander reflex the way other humans have a gag reflex. He can`t just look at a topic and either repeat an established position or say nothing--something in him FORCES him to say stupid things like this.
I recall him trying to out-liberal Ted Kennedy when he ran against him, and his `evolving` position on abortion. He can`t disagree with anyone on principle--he is compelled to `make nice.` He`s becoming McCain without even passing through the `Washington`s favorite `conservative`` phase.

"I feel your pain" was a big winner for some politician or other a few years back.
Now everybody does it. Well, maybe not everybody, but if you want to win swing voters, you probably have some mushy, conciliatory words for situations like this.
It's how the game is played. Notice he's not approving the protestors. He's just saying with an economy like we have now, he understands why people are discontented. That binds him to nothing. It's just "I feel your pain" again.

Do people realize just how much better off we would be today if we had just passed Forbe’s flat tax in 1996?

Their signs say, “Eat the rich!”. Mitt, I gotta tell you, the only reason you are where you are is that you’re rich and your Daddy was a politician with rich friends. Get the picture?
