What does it mean? Sarah Palin changes Facebook profile from 'Republican' to 'Conservative'

She has always been known as a Tea Party darling as well as a staunch Republican.

But now Sarah Palin has nailed her political colours to the mast and changed her Facebook profile from Republican to 'Conservative'.

The move on the 'political views' section of her page has left political commentators struggling to decipher what the the former Alaska governor is trying to say.

One long-time blogger and Palin supporter wrote: 'I suppose one could draw a multitude of conclusions regarding this status change.

'I know that I certainly have. You can be certain that any move Sarah Palin makes has been well thought out and is with purpose.

'Could she possibly be sending a message to the RNC that they need to strengthen the conservative planks of the Republican party.

'Perhaps her promise of 'sudden and relentless reform' as addressed in her Indianola speech and more recently in her October 7th St. Louis speech is a sign that as in the past, neither party is safe from her scrunity.

'One thing is for sure, time will tell.'

The news comes as polls continued to indicate that Republicans aren’t sold on Mitt Romney and they’ve been looking for other presidential candidates.

At least eight other Republicans have seen their standings soar in GOP primary surveys since the beginning of the year.....

Means she’s not seeking the Republican nomination and she’s stating something that actually means something because the GOP leadership has forgotten what it means to be Republican.

Perhaps she determined that Romney as the ultimate candidate was a foregone conclusion. I have expected that outcome for a long time for reasons that are pretty much beyond the control of the Republicans. If so then she may have decided to do an independent run. I would support that if she does. Romney as a "Republican" president and even as a failing candidate would finish the Republican party and probably the Republic. Four more years of Romney or the kenyan is more than the country can take. If Palin were to run and make a good showing, perhaps 25%, I think conservatives would replace the Republican Party shortly and the "third party" would be part of a reinvigorated two party system. Of course, that depends on not having an imposed one party system before 2016. In any event I am not optimistic.

What does it mean? It means Sarah Palin is embarrassed to be associated with the current Republican party.

Many Republicans have participated overtly and behind the scenes in her destruction in the media. IMHO many top republicans like Karl Rove have beat her bloody. Painfully. Unforgivably. There is much to be disappointed about in the republican party lately. Obama and his henchmen are exploiting the differences between conservatives and RINOS.

I was a conservative long before I became a republican.....We do not need the republican party to hold our personal conservative Constitutional American principles.

Conservatives have another defining characteristic. It is LOYALTY to our own.

God Bless Conservative Sarah Palin.

I don’t see her getting 25%.

It would likely look like 1992.

Obama 42
Romney 37
Tea 21

Knowing full well that such a move guarantees an Obama victory?

Liberal Republicanism and RINOS do it for the democrats.

This non-event was falsely reported the Conservatives4Palin blog which they got from another blog. They have since apologized. It has been discussed to death on this thread.

We will give Obama the Presidency like a fresh cup cake if Romney is the nominee. I will stay home and I don’t think I will be alone.

Cain is the best choice.

Palin doesn’t matter now if she’s not running for president.

I guess that means Ryan doesn't matter, Kasich doesn't matter, Cantor doesn't matter, DeMint doesn't matter, Walker doesn't matter, etc. --- only the views of the seven dwarfs running for pres matter, eh?

No, it means you haven’t read the thread. “GrandJediMasterYoda” (LOL!) NOTHING HAS CHANGED on her page, they printed a retraction of the story.

It means she’s disappointed in the RINOs just like the rest of us.

There’s a big apology for writing this from some blog. Her organization says she has always been listed as a conservative.

Oh, I guess then Frum doesn't matterf (actually, he doesn't), nor Trotter, nor Krauthammer, nor Parker, nor etc. etc. etc. of all the unelected punditry whose opinions count no more, and often much less, than those of Palin, who still appears to have a huge following.

I don't doubt that her influence will decline if she's not in the hunt, but your "she doesn't matter" I expect is mostly wishful thinking. I'm looking forward to your wishes being dashed.

I was a supporter of hers until she announced that she wasn’t running for president. She milked it until the end.

I want her to do or be or say ANYTHING she wants. She’s earned it.
In her honor, I’ve removed her name from my tagline. She clearly has bigger things left to do.

Liberal and RINO repubs make it possible. A third-party run guarantees it. But I don`t have to convince you of that... you already know it.
