Right now the staffs of Rick Perry and Herman Cain are assuring their candidates of the sourness of the vineyard of the Union Leader endorsement. Why no one in Manchester, New Hampshire, reads that rag, right? But even as the staffs of all the other candidates not named Mitt Romney tell their bosses it does not matter, they are preparing their resumes, hoping that maybe they can land a job with Newt Gingrich or Mitt Romney. Some big money likely will come off the sidelines and into the campaign coffers of Newt Gingrich.
As Lucianne Goldberg wrote: This is a biggie.
Absolutely. Bill Loeb built the largest newspaper in New Hampshires national reputation on focusing on that states first-in-the-nation-primary during a time when presidential selections went from the party bosses to the primaries. Conservatives across the nation trust the newspapers judgment. Its not that the endorsement will change their minds, it is that the endorsement will reinforce their decision. Conservatives want the most conservative candidate possible who can still defeat Barack Obama.
That candidate increasingly is looking like Newt Gingrich. This endorsement reinforces that notion....

Wow. A Union Leader endorsement. Certainly made the difference for the presidencies of Steve Forbes and Pat Buchanan. /sarc
Good point.
Thank you.
It would have been nice to have had that, I would be a liar to say otherwise. Having said that, in this New Media Template Age, it will have somewhat a less lengthy of a shelf life than in previous years. If the Lib MSM hypes it heavily, Newt is one of their establishment boys. But if they spike it or devalue it, he is an external threat and they hate him. Observe closely...
I’m sure there’s a Kanji for it. :)
Sorry I’ve been away. I’ll pick up on the pings this week.
Newspaper endorsements do not carry the weight they once did. But, even though this might not help Newt a great deal, it sure won’t hurt him. That said, however, look for his fundraising to skyrocket.
Consider the reasoning which prompted the endorsement.
Smackdown of Milt.
HE BRAGGED THAT HE LIVES IN N.H.
and even THEY rejected the drunken phoney.
I don’t think it is surprising at all that Perry or Cain did not get the endorsement of the Union leader.
Myth Romney is the clear loser here.
Not only is he a elitist New englander, but he declares New hampster as his residence.
**** Amnesty and its poster boy newt... comment enough?
LLS
And people have trust in news papers too. /s
Just hoping to finally get one right. Newt a conservative? Not anymore, just a political animal.
I’m hanging in there for Herman Cain. The south shall rise again. :)
Cain on the illegal alien invasion:
“Secure the border-enforce the law!”
Say what you want, the Cain man, unlike the others, gots him some common sense.
I really don't know which of your Willard Romneys we would get, so I will go with the Union Leader.
2009 cutbacks: In a message printed in the paper in early 2009 publisher Joseph McQuaid announced that owing to financial difficulties the Saturday edition of the paper would no longer be distributed outside of the Greater Manchester area and that Saturday content would be moved to a combined Friday/Saturday edition.[14] -- wikipedia
