Poll: Romney Slips in Michigan. (Milt 31%, Newt 26%)

Mitt Romney, once seen as a sure bet to win the Michigan Republican presidential primary, now appears locked in a surprisingly tight race with challenger Newt Gingrich.

Michigan is home turf for the former Massachusetts governor. His late father, George Romney, was a popular governor of Michigan from 1963 to 1969, and the younger Romney grew up in the Detroit suburb of Bloomfield Hills.

But with the state’s primary approaching on Feb. 28, Mr. Romney’s lead remains small, given his home-court advantage. A poll released last week by the Detroit Free Press/WXYZ-TV found that 31% of likely voters supported Mr. Romney, compared with 26% supporting former House Speaker Gingrich.

The poll had a 4-point margin of error and was conducted Jan. 21-25. It also found Michigan voters would pick President Barack Obama over Mr. Romney if the governor becomes the Republican nominee, with 48% of likely voters going for Mr. Obama and 40% going for Mr. Romney....

That was so long ago most people in Michigan probably don’t even know who George (”Brainwashed”) Romney was.

Still love Gene McCarthy’s comment that for George Romney, all it took was a light rinse! haha

Milt Hershey
Milt would make a fine president. The chocolate empire which he started in our state is still going great. Unfortunately, Milt died in 1945.

First, is Michigan the next primary? And second, once Romney gets wind of any advances by Newt, he’ll start the smear campaign just like he did in Fla. and Iowa.

LOL!

1968 was one helluva year. Assassinations, urban riots, Chicago Dem Convention, Vietnam protests. Now that the Dems have made us relive the 70's, I hope they don't make us relive that.
