Paul Ryan, worse than Palin (Unintentional Laff Riot!)
The Examiner ^ | August 17, 2012 | Russell Allyn

Posted on 08/18/2012 12:48:39 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

True, Mitt Romney’s new nominee for vice president possesses certain attributes that Sarah Palin lacked, namely a wonky intellect and speaking voice that does not sound like nails on chalkboard. But Paul Ryan may actually turn out to be a worse veep choice than Ms. Palin for several reasons.

1. Ryan further delays, and perhaps permanently scraps, Romney’s move to the center. Eric Fehrnstrom, a top Romney aide, signaled that the candidate intended to reinvent himself as a moderate after winning the primary season. But we never got that promised Etch-a-Sketch moment and now, likely, never will. How is Romney going to take advantage of his shape-shifting to attract independent voters if he continues to run as a “severe conservative”? McCain didn’t need Palin to establish his independent, mavericky bona fides, but Ryan moves Romney in the wrong direction.

2. Palin’s nomination gave McCain a nice, but short-lived, bounce in the polls – and enlivened McCain-Palin campaign rallies. By contrast, Ryan gave Romney no national bounce in the polls and was greeted with a tepid response from voters. Romney only got a slight bounce in Ryan’s home state of Wisconsin, a place Obama can electorally afford to lose but will probably still win anyway. And since Ryan needs to be kept away from seniors and more electorally significant places like Florida (see Point No. 3, below), the newly minted team had to split up when Romney headed south. Palin played everywhere, if that was your flavor of crazy.

--snip--

4. Palin was the first female on a Republican ticket. Ryan is a white, rich guy of the majority religion. Nothing to see here. Move along....

You make my point for me: That was Neville Chamberlain and it was World War II.

For which I am grateful. Romney ran on a conservative platform during the primaries, and he still is doing so now during the general election campaign. He has not "flopped" on his pro-life and pro-traditional marriage positions, for example. (If he had, I would not be supporting him.) And the selection of Ryan gives further indication that we may get a relatively conservative-governing Romney.

Ask Patten if her would compromise...

That stinking sensation on your face was his big disgusted patriot hand giving you your answer...

ask Churchill to forget about the beach...

ask Thomas Paine if he really meant what he said...

Maybe he was just having an off day...

Maybe on another day he would compromise..

Maybe abortion is OK when its just for incest or rape or the health of the mother...

Surely there can be a compromise....

Maybe its OK if gays get to be Boy Scout leaders over your little sons

after all you do want to teach your sons not to discriminate but to compromise...

Gays in the military well they did compromise once and let women in didnt they...

Gee yeah a little camel nose compromise is good...

If youre a liberal like your boy Wee Willie...

But its never good for a free nation...

America is at a critical crossroads. . .there are some things that cannot be compromised. i.e. Choose heaven/hell- life/death -right/wrong. It is that simple. In the end truth prevails. . . and may be too late for some. We all make mistakes but going along to get along rather than standing for what is morally right and just usually brings regrets in the end like the congressional compromises that resulted in consequences we have had to endure. http://patburt.com/

Russell. Under the FOREIGNER you socialist democrats have moved so far left you need binoculars to see the center. Witness the southern states. They have now all moved to be republicans because the democrats have moved to be communists.
By the way. A bit of truth, which I know is hard to swallow for you lefties. 1) Ryan was the last person the FOREIGNER wanted to see as VP.. As for the upcoming election. It will be a worse landslide than Reagan over Carter.

I’m guessing you meant General George Patton. I love being lectured to on military matters by a person who never wore a uniform. What is a “stinking sensation” by the way? Winston Churchill was a great compromiser, as are all successful politicians. How did abortion and homosexual boy scout leaders get into this conversation? I was born to an unwed mother and adopted at 3 months. Had I been born 13 years later, I would have likely been killed by an abortionist, so don’t go there.

Ryan is not the downfall of Romney...

Romney was groveling on the ground for years before Ryan cam along...

Rather if theres any downfall Romney will cause it for Ryan...

Romney on his own was losing

By using Ryan as a shield Willard wont lose by as much and who knows Ryan just might win in spite of the albatross Willard around his neck...

What ???

Romney is the one on the top of the GOP ticket ???

Oh well never ,mind...

BTW I doubt if Ryan was Willards choice

Paul Ryan is everything Willard is not...

The contrast is too striking...

Paul Ryan is a real man...Willard is a craven coward..

Paul Ryan is the kind of man Wee Willie is jealous of...

I think he had to be made to accept Paul Ryan...

As you properly stated it, there is no middle. American political life is structured around the need to win in single member districts. It only secondarily delves into ideology, and even there, the ideological standards in America are simply not comparable to those in Europe.

We are always doomed to have, on the average, close elections with slow movement from one major party to the other ~ and I mean slow ~ like GLACIAL. Redistricting can help, but even there local factions can quickly adjust their options to get in on the winning game as fast as possible.

When I first heard that Mitt would move to the center (apparently toward the Conservative side presumably) I was taken aback. Last thing that guy would do is ever think or utter a Conservative thought.

Still having a difficult time understanding how a guy in the wrong party can win in this race ~ he is, after all, pretty much a Democrat given his record and public statements.

Thanks!

Every American citizen should consider carefully the underlying ideology and philosophy of government of the present Administration. That ideology relies on government, not God, as the source of our "success" as a nation, as the redistributor of our earnings, and as the entity to whom we should look and be grateful for whatever "blessings" we have. That is in direct conflict with the IDEA which gave birth to American liberty.

The most important point Ryan has made in his speeches, including this morning's, is his assertion of the most significant distinguishing ideas foundation of America's Declaration of Independence and Constitution--that our rights are derived from the Creator (God), not from government.

“The God who gave us life gave us liberty at the same time; the hand of force may destroy, but cannot disjoin them.” (Jefferson - 1774)

“Statesmen may plan and speculate for Liberty, but it is Religion and Morality alone which can establish the principles upon which Freedom can securely stand.” (John Adams - 1775)

“The Sacred Rights of Mankind are not to be rummaged for among old parchments or musty records. They are written, as with a sunbeam, in the whole volume of human nature, by the Hand of the Divinity itself, and can never be erased or obscured by mortal power.” (Alexander Hamilton)

“Without God, there could be no American form of government, nor an American way of life. Recognition of the Supreme Being is the first and the most basic expression of Americanism. Thus the founding fathers saw it, and thus, with God’s help, it will continue to be.” (Dwight Eisenhower)

“The same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe, the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state but from the hand of God.” (John F. Kennedy - 1961 Inaugural)

“…it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly implore His protection and favor….”(George Washington)

“Now the virtue which had been infused into the Constitution…and was to give it…the stability and duration to which it was destined, was no other than…those abstract principles…proclaimed in the Declaration of Independence—namely, the self-evident truths of the…unalienable rights of man…the…sovereignty of the people, always subordinate to a rule of right and wrong, and always responsible to the Supreme Ruler of the universe for the rightful exercise of that sovereign…power.” (John Quincy Adams, on the occasion of The Jubilee of the Constitution - 1839)

Where to, America? Will you join those who believe that America's founding idea should predominate in our national life, or the "progressive" and counterfeit idea of government-over-people which controls and dominates the current Administration and will, if not stopped, destroy the very foundations of freedom?

The fascist princes in Virginia wouldn't let anyone but Mitt and that idiot Paul on the ballot so we didn't get to vote in the primaries.

Take your primary arguments and stuff 'em where the sun don't shine ~ we're giving up on that method. It doesn't work.

___________________________________________

I dont...

You might enjoy your 2 time draft dodging boy Wee Willie telling you how he would run the military and a war...

But as a US veteran I am disgusted that such a coward is obsessed with being the CinC over our brave troops...

and that he wants gays in the military...

and I can well imagine that gun grabber leaving our troopsd without protection from our enemies...

sending my grandchildren and yours into harms way without a further thought while his own stay out of the military continuing the Romney family anti-America tradition...

During Vietnam your cowardly piece of crap Wee Willie refused to go himself but he had the unmitigating gall to protest FOR the sons of poor men going in his place...

He held signs demanding other young men sign up and go...

I think if those young men who saw that sign and heard his lispy voice had known what a yellow fake and liar he was, they would have beaten his wimpy butt for him...

What a lying hypocrite...

around about 1994 Willard started saying that he had longed to pick up a gun and go to Vietnam ...what a filthy liar...

he has also said the he always wanted to “represent our country in Vietnam” what did he think you guys were doing ??? parties ?? croquet ??? ski dooing ??? Ambassadors receiptions ???

and then in 2008 when asked about his FIVE eligible sons joining and fighting your boy Wee Willie flippantly boasted that they were all serving our country just like the troops in Iraq by working in his campaign for POTUS...

as a US veteran if you are not sick to the stomach by the cowardly flippant actions and words your boy Wee Willie then theres something wrong with you...

Well, that’s the great thing about opinions in the age of Obama. An ill-informed one is as good as a fact-based one.

Well then youre fortunate you werent around the Romneys because they wanted abortion legal or not many years before Roe V Wade...

and I will talk about abortion ...

after all its part and parcel of what Willard stands for...

Your boy Wee Willie has been pro-abortion for 40 years way before it was legal in the US...

Unless your boy Wee willie is going for a “transparent” administration like Obama ???

When one observes, over a long period of time, the success and failure of business leaders, one must come to the conclusion that successful leaders are those who recognize and choose as their associates qualified individuals, even some who appear more qualified than they. That is a mark of strength in great leaders.

Another observation: at the beginning of America's existence, its Founders and citizenry relied on what they called "Divine Providence" to guide them and called on that "Being" as they chose leaders. Perhaps that should be our chosen role as citizens today--trusting that if that Being brought America into existence as a place of liberty, then perhaps that Will might restore to the "American mind" the principles which made it great.

As a Game Biologist for the state of Alaska, I conducted studies on the Pacific walrus, bearded seals, spotted seals, ring seals, beluga whales and migratory shores birds off the coast of Alaska. Much of my work was based on Little Diomede Island which is in the Bering Straits just a few nautical miles from Big Diomede Island, which is Russian-held.

I flew out of Cape Prince-of-Wales, Alaska, from which you can easily see with the naked eye, Big Diomede Island and the massive cliffs of the Siberian Peninsula which open to the Chukchi Sea.

As an educated person I immediately understood what Gov. Palin was referring to. Every Alaskan is aware of this geographical closeness and I had heard many Alaskans refer to this phenonmenon years before she voiced her comments.

It is one thing to sit in your cloistered ‘living room’ on the Left coast and pronounce judgement on things you know absolutely nothing about. That is routine for liberals. But to evidence such hatred for a decent woman, a fellow American, is absolutely beneath contempt.

Write what you will. Decent Americans will see through your puerile histrionics. I’m sure your ‘progressive’, socialist, communist, and anarchist fellow travelers find you amusing. We Conservatives find you pathetic, irresponsible, and anti-American.
