Democrats are winning at least one key aspect of the 2012 campaign: voter contact.
Some Republicans are starting to fret a little bit about their ground game and a new Washington Post-ABC News poll shows that fear is at least somewhat justified.
According to the poll, 20 percent of registered voters say they have been contacted by the Obama campaign, compared to 13 percent who say they have been contacted by Mitt Romneys campaign.
Thats on-par with the gap at the same point in the 2008 campaign, when 18 percent of likely voters said they had been contacted by the Obama team and 11 percent who said they had been contacted by Sen. John McCains (R-Ariz.) campaign.
But it didnt use to be the case. The Republicans voter turnout machine was once vaunted particularly its 72-hour voter mobilization program.
In fact, in September 2004, slightly more voters said they had been contacted by President Bushs team (18 percent) than Sen. John Kerrys (D-Mass.) team (17 percent).
At an event Monday, former Mississippi governor and Republican National Committee chairman Haley Barbour said Republicans need to be concerned about that...

Obama’s “advantage” is that 50% of Americans who consider themselves “informed” because they’ve listened to Letterman, read bumper stickers and read headlines, as they passed the news stand.
I don’t answer the calls. I get days where they call me 10 times.
Given that Obama is an in-your-face community organizer, with legions of union hacks at his disposal, while Mitt has been trying to adhere to the letter of the law until he got the nomination, a seven point spread does not sound too bad to me.
Voter contact is easier for Dems. A massive percentage of their voters are lazy shiftless bums who can be reached 24/7 in their subsidized housing while Republican voters are busy at work, volunteering at schools and charities, running our kids to lessons and practice and just overall BUILDING a life.
Yesterday was the story about how cocky Obama seemed despite Romney ahead a bit, i.e. pollsters are undersampling blacks.
Today it’s about Obama having a better ground game.
All anecdotal BS to prop up the Kenyan.
There appears to be a well-organized effort to convince us that Obama is ashoe-in for the presidency. Not according to the polls and pretty much any and everyone I talk to.
“We know who you are, and we know where you live.”
Today I saw a Romney sign in my neighborhood for the first time. There have been a few Obama signs on the more expensive streets (ocean views) for a few months now. (Southern California).
I have no idea where the local Romney headquarters is, if there is one.
That does not bode well for grass roots organization and GOTV.
What would convincing people Obama is a shoe-in achieve?
If anything it would give people less of a reason to vote for him, if it looks clear he is going to win anyway.
His ground game is making plenty of headway on FR.
Let Obummer rely on his runners, while the Bishop hits a touchdown to his wide receiver out of the ball park !
