Gov. Chris Christie, R-N.J., called for a comprehensive approach to reducing gun violence Wednesday on "CBS This Morning," saying, "If all we talk about is just controlling guns, which we should talk about, then we're not doing enough."
Christie said, "In New Jersey, we have the second toughest gun laws in America already," but suggested that restrictions on firearms are insufficient.
The governor decried the "stigma about mental illness treatment in this country" that prevents mentally ill people from seeking help as one contributing factor to gun violence.
He also spoke to the need to "talk about substance abuse" and examine the "violence in these video games," adding, "I don't allow 'Call of Duty' in my home."
Asked by "CBS This Morning" co-host Norah O'Donnell why he did not address gun control in his State of the State address on Tuesday, Christie said it was just a matter of prioritizing.
"In a half-hour address, you pick and choose what you're going to talk about," explaining that the ongoing recovery from Superstorm Sandy took precedence.
Christie added even if his harsh words for House Republicans when decided to postpone a vote on the Sandy relief package offended members of his own party, "I don't worry about that."
"Sandy is and was above politics, and should be. And if my party is not putting it above politics, they're gonna hear from me about it."
He continued, "In the end, the decision that I criticized was one that the speaker made," but said, "I think we have the whole House of Representatives listening to us now."(continued)

No, but I have two eyes and can see that he is huge.
seriously - having been that heavy - I can tell you from experience the guy has blood sugar issues, Hiatal hernia, apnea, high blood pressure, heart disease, liver issues etc....all the freakin statins and bp meds will not fix morbidly obese - my guess is that he has a serious health crisis in the next 24 mos
“I don’t allow ‘Call of Duty’ in my home.”
I certainly can understand that. In light of his more recent proclivity to dwell on the dark side of liberalism, I can’t say I’ll be heart broken when his heart explodes.
I guess that’s because most home scales top out at 300. For him, you’re right....a trip to Barnum and Bailey’s or the zoo is more appropriate.
No one is interested in even good ideas if coming from Christie. He is as dangerous to conservatives and to freedom as a serpent, and much noisier.
We’re about to have to endure some political whiplash as all these politicians jockey for position to get the conservative base support necessary to mount a primary and capture the Establishment cash that actually wins primaries.
Things look hopeless for me to tolerate the R Party shell game.
The GOP is that far gone, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Christie as the frontrunner..the media adores him(For now of course, behind the scenes they are laughing their asses off)
For about the first month after his election a lot of freepers were too.
And to think that the blond republikan “conservative” talk show hostess, washername, thought that Christie was a good candidate for POTUS in 2012.
You can’t trust anyone these days especially not “conservatives”.
Governor, the only thing gun laws like our existing ones do is deprive honest, law abiding citizens like me of the right to self defense. What makes you think that more are necessary?
A better solution is to allow anyone who wishes to be armed to arm themseves, and get anyone who can’t be trusted to bear arms off the street permanently.
I’m somewhat “V” shaped, so that even at 5’11” I only look about 280-290.
If he is really interested in his weight, he can always go to a roadside truck scale.
To my knowledge he has never claimed to be conservative. That label was put on him by the RATs trying to defeat him, and by a misguided Ann Coulter.
We have a new tradition here in the USSA: The DNC selects the Republican candidate they wish their candidate to run against. It seemed to work pretty well for them the last 2 times, so they're going to make the tradition permanent.
New Jersey Governor Pork Porkie weighs in.
I am already sick of that bloated big mouth.
Interesting question.
Ann C. has opted for the fence sitting moderate perch, co-opted apparently by the money crowd in the Establishment.
TRAITOR
Don’t be fooled by this fat-ass, Lou Costello-look-a-like f’ing RINO. He’s no conservative.
Ann Coulter is not misguided but delusional.
