So argues Ralph Benko at Forbes, in a column yesterday that takes a (ahem) different view of the strategies employed by the House Republican caucus and the Speaker over the last few weeks. Benko may score on a few of his points, too:
In retrospect, at the Battle at Fiscal Cliff, Boehner took President Obama to the cleaners. He did it suavely, without histrionics. While Obama churlishly, and in a politically amateurish manner, publicly strutted about having forced the Republicans to raise tax rates on the wealthiest Americans Boehner, quietly, was pocketing his winnings.
Dazzled by Obamas Ozymandias-scale sneer most liberals failed to notice that Boehner quietly made 99% of the Bush tax cuts permanent. As Boehner himself dryly observed, in an interview with The Wall Street Journals editorial board member Steve Moore, Who would have ever guessed that we could make 99% of the Bush tax cuts permanent? When we had a Republican House and Senate and a Republican in the White House, we couldnt get that. And so, not bad.
Thats true, but it doesnt take into account the GOP pledge to never raise taxes. Republicans had argued that tax hikes would damage the economy, cost jobs, and drive down overall revenue, but they effectively lost that argument in the presidential election anyway...

I will only believe this crap when we actually spend less this year than we did last year.
I still can’t stand Boner or his leadership, but I agree with the article. Let’s see if there’s real strategery here or if this is just Boner’s lucky bumbling into success.
If Boner was a super-genious, Obama would not be President, the Rats would not control the Senate and he would be king.
Yeah, right.
It was Speaker Boehner’s job to keep Mr. Obama from being re-elected? I thought that was Gov. Romney’s role. And how is a House Speaker resbonsible for the makeup of the Senate?
If he was that smart, he would be a leader of the Republican party that would be effective for his whole party, including being an effective driving force and influence in ALL national elections. . . elections in which Republicans would be wildly successful.
Instead, he has had his head handed back to him EVERY TIME he has engaged in negotiations with Obama. Like most everybody else in Washington these days, he is not a statesman that practices self-denial in favor of his country, he is a self-centered leech working to game the system in his favor. That is just what this country has become, with Obama and Congress leading the charge into oblivion.
Unfortunately, the whole 2011 debt ceiling debate, the super committee, and all that garbage set the stage for the Obama re-election. It was confusing, it’s outcome was bizarrely complicated, it stretched on for months too long, it allowed the left to demagogue congress. I watched in frustration knowing they gave Obama a lifeline to spend 2012 running against the congress. It was handled terribly, just as the fiscal cliff negotiation was (until the Senate actually developed the compromise). Yes, Romney was responsible for losing, but the congressional leadership scored a major assist.

Romney was never gong to get elected.
Conservative Christians werre not going to support a Morman regardless.
If the conservatives simply stay home he loses/
I used to think with my genius, but then I got married.
