Former Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele on Tuesday said he doesn't understand why gun owners fear the registration of their firearms.

"I don't get the fear of registration," Steele said on MSNBC. "I don't get the, the concern about trafficking. Are we saying that we want criminals to, you know, make … back-alley sales out of the trunks of their cars?"

Steele was part of a panel on MSNBC's "The Daily Rundown," during which former Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) said that responsible gun owners insure their guns, which means they're registered. "I mean, I don't understand," she said.

MSNBC host Chuck Todd agreed with Steele. "It feels like we're protecting the rights of the paranoid about government, rather than, sort of, the reasonable," he said.

The Second Amendment restricted Government from infringing upon a pre-existing prescriptive right that dated from time immemorial.

Why do these people addicted to government intrusion not understand that this is a prohibition against just such laws as they contemplate?

We don’t have to disprove the need for an infrigement. It is up to proponents to prove that the law in no way limits the purpose of the second amendment and thereby becomes an infringement and, additionally, in no way becomes a tool for infringement.

They cannot do either so they want to argue their opponents motives and all other issues rather than their effort to go around a constitutional limitation.

I am against regulation but not for the reasons you stated. My car is registered but I own it not the government. The problem is government will regulate it to death. You still own it but they control it. Fascism not communism.

I also fear that government WILL confiscate firearms but that is not based on what has happened with auto registrations or other registrations in the US. It is based on what other countries have implemented such as australia.

Steele and his succesor, Priebus, are symptomatic of what is wrong with the GOP!!

No wonder “Republicans” are abandoning the GOP faster than a stampede at a Walmart sale!!

The problems with the GOP begin with the RNC chair and work down.

A true conservative party could gain several million members overnight if they just adhered to the values and policies that the GOP used to!!

If ever did someone actually provide a more frank and concise case for his own termination as a GOP political consultant or otherwise, Steele has provided it.

GOP is small government. Government is bad. Bad is the government using their gun registry against the people in the registry. Bad is ANY infringement on the 2nd Amendment.

I can explain this to children, and they get it.

No single raindrop blames itself for the flood. This guy, however, needs to be notified that he is responsible.

The thing about these guys is that their speech patterns show that they really do understand, they are just being duplicitous. For example, his statement:"I don't get the fear of registration, I don't get the, the concern about trafficking. Note when the filler words get thrown in, it is when in speech the brain suffers a short disconnect due to an untruth or conflicting statement that forces the focus of the speaker into making a judgment about what they are saying. That is why people tend to extended length blink when they lie. They are disconnecting from their focus on who they are talking to, to the thoughts themselves. The Brain is interrupting them asking for a decision. That politician stated as one truth, two ideas that actually conflict in his own mind.

"I mean, I don't understand," she said.

Oh, she believes she understands, yet is saying that she does not. Again, the extra words to cover the time the brain flagged the conflict. If she really did feel that she did not understand, she simply would have said "I don't understand" with no delay in cadence caused by her brain conflict.

"It feels like we're protecting the rights of the paranoid about government, rather than, sort of, the reasonable [person]..."

The media guy is not as accomplished of a liar, his cover word choice "sort of" showed that in his brain, clearly he believes that it IS reasonable to be paranoid about government.

These people live in a world of untruth and stumble into truth only when they feel it betters their position. People like this think those who tell the truth are weak sheep that need liars like them to be their masters. In truth, theses "masters" are just weak minded psycopaths, unable to cope with reality. They substitute lies for what they cannot deal with personally.

What they do not know in their hearts is truth. That is because their lies are stated as truth so often when they speak that the brain gets quite confused.

When a statement is made, the brain classifies it by the judgment of the soul as to if it is truth or not. Brains are not capable of making moral judgments, and depend on the soul for that. When someone lies, they force the truth label on top of a lie, and the brain records the memory of the lie as truth. The subconscious "mind", the sum total balance of learned information ends up getting massively conflicted and fails to supply a effective background belief structure. This forces the soul to have to judge each and every thought instead of relying on the background understanding of the brain. It is also why liars end up believing their own lies.

That is why liars have to think fast while they speak. Their speech cadence is fast and staccato, and their eyes go too and fro while they speak. Their body is displaying what is going on in the "mind", a "think about this" and "what about that" constant background cross conflict resolution, while they simultaneously try to carry on a conversation, instead of the clear conviction of a soul at peace with the issue.

Yes. It is more akin to fascism than communism. They are sneaky. They will keep adding more and more regulations to where they control everything even though you supposedly own it. Like slow boiling a frog.

Regulation is a “taking” but we have just given up on that angle and the courts have settled on such. Roberts said [par], It is not the requirement of the SCOTUS to protect the citizens from their elective choices.

Well as long as you follow government rules you will own the firearm. That's the problem. You will purchase the weapon, pay for it and it will be registered in your name. The government will not purchase the gun or be the registered owner. The feds are not going to buy your weapons for you. If someone steals the gun and commits a crime with it the government won't go after the government itself. No it will go after you. You are the owner. If you don't follow their rules they will then take / steal your gun.

There are other items of property where the government will seize / control the property if you don't follow their rules. If you are busted with drugs they will seize your automobile. You must maintain a license plate if you want to drive it. They don't own your car. But they regulate it and control it.

What is different however, is there is no constitutional amendment that says your right to possess an automobile will not be infringed. That's the difference. They have no right to make you register a gun. The fascists will dictate and control under what circumstances you are allowed to retain your property.

Guns is just one item. They will do the same thing on houses next. They won't outright take the house. They will establish some absurd federal property tax and when you don't pay ... then they will take it. They are sneaky like that. This is not communism where the government owns everything ... it is fascism where the government controls everything
