Fred Barnes: Immigration Reform Is Starting to Roll
WSJ Opinion ^ | 4-24-2013 | Fred Barnes

Posted on 04/25/2013 4:08:12 AM PDT by Sir Napsalot

Sen. Lindsey Graham predicts 70 votes for the 'Gang of Eight' bill with Marco Rubio on board.

It is rare in Washington for the trend lines on a controversial issue to come together as favorably as they have for immigration reform.

Public support is roughly around 70%, according to various polls, with Gallup having it at 72%. Senate Republicans blocked an overhaul of immigration laws in 2007 but now a substantial bloc of Republicans, alarmed by the GOP's shrunken share of the Hispanic vote in the 2012 election, are eager to enact "comprehensive" reform legislation.

For their part, Hispanic groups recognize that this is an opportune moment for achieving their goal of citizenship for illegal immigrants in America. They are willing to accept legislation with a protracted timetable—a minimum of 13 years—before citizenship can be attained.

And two backers of immigration reform have emerged as key players since Congress took up the issue last week with hearings of the Senate Judiciary Committee. One is President Obama. In February, the leak of a White House bill—including provisions that would be anathema to Republicans—threatened to upset the pro-reform coalition. Since then, the president has promised to stay out of the congressional deliberations.

The other is Republican Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida. His role is as critical as the president's, but for a different reason. Mr. Obama can stymie legislation, but Mr. Rubio's leadership is essential to passing immigration reform in the first place. This is why Republican Sens. John McCain and Lindsey Graham, longtime advocates of reform, recruited him and created the bipartisan "Gang of Eight" with four Republicans and four Democrats........

I would have thought that momentum would have shifted after the Boston bombings. This is what our current immigration standards brought us; foreign nationals imported and given citizenship, welfare, and Mosques founded by terrorists. Maybe they are just doing the menial terrorist jobs that Americans aren't willing to do?

This issue disgusts me, and I don't care if Rubio is 100% conservative on all other issues, I will never support or vote for him period. Nor will I for any other politician that votes for this bill.

That being said I also support immigration reform. I support reforming the border patrol so they actually protect the border. I support going back to a quota system. I support a path to citizenship, as long as that path leads to the back of the line, so people playing by the rules have equal opportunity. (most Hispanics and other foreign born citizens that played by the rules support this as well)I support increased scrutiny (to the effect of a moratorium) of any Muslim or national from a Muslim majority country. I support the immediate review of all current student visas, with a review of the system that is in place now. I support reviewing and changing our "refugee" policy. I support the termination of all H1-B visas.

If that is what they mean by immigration reform the 70% figure actually seems low.

I am ready-—been ready.

WE don’t have a party anymore.

Republicans better hope they can get enough Hispanic votes to make up for those they are losing.

Q: What type of country refuses to secure its border, allows 30 million invaders to squat inside its territory, then proposes to give them citizenship, benefits and voting rights as a “solution?”

A: A dying country that seeks to hasten its demise.

Sure some of 'em are. Call anyway. Barnes is paid by Kristol to conduct agit/prop---the pukeneos are playing mind games to force racalcitrant Sens into voting.

AS SICKIOFLIBS INSIGHTFULLY POSTED: There is winning or whining, we need to choose. Post-2012 we now know "Immigration Reform" is a dangerous issue for Repubs---they are cornered.

A Morning Joe guest pointed out that even suckup Obama once voted against immigration reform b/c it lacked a ‘path to citizenship’----a key demand of strongarm unions.

MJ guest also observed that unions are not enthused about immigration reform b/c legalized workers will compete with union members (exactly why business wants it). Now unions will go along IF illegals get the vote (cunning union bosses calculate this will help them b/c illegals will vote Dem/lib).

SOLibs SOLUTION---HOIST THEM ON THEIR OWN PETARD Repubs in the House should not do or say anything until Reid gets a bill passed. At that point, Rs offer a ‘compromise’ that is similar to Obama's relentless EO's.....but contains no path to citizenship.

Now if Reid fails, the GOP goes into 2014 rubbing the debacle into the faces of a key Dem base (EXACTLY how Obama plays Rs against each other) .

It is important that Repubs say things like “America is built on hard working immigrants and we welcome those immigrants who want to follow our laws, pay their taxes and live the American Dream’ (the way O sucks up----not pull a Romney 47% gaffe). When the bill dies for lack of union support-Repubs can then blame Dems and Obama for ‘making the perfect the enemy of the good.'

Amen.

WASHINTGTON FREE BEACON---Blacks Opposing Amnesty;African-American leaders call on Congressional Black Caucus to halt immigration bill BBR> BY: Stephanie Wang--- http://freebeacon.com/opposing-amnesty/

The African American Leadership Council asked the Congressional Black Caucus to oppose the Senate Gang of Eight’s immigration bill at a press conference Wednesday morning. The leaders called on the caucus to protect black workers by opposing the 844-page bill, portions of which the coalition described as amnesty.

The bill released last week would place 11 to 12 million illegal immigrants on a path to citizenship. Speakers at the press conference cited the disparate impact of legalization on low-skilled workers, particularly black workers. They stressed the economic security issues involved in granting illegal immigrants a path to citizenship.

The council questioned whether there are enough low-skill jobs for both African Americans and immigrants. One member said increased immigration levels would keep black unemployment, which is already nearly double the national average, elevated for some time. “With unemployment at 7.6 percent, this is preposterous,” coalition member Charles Butler said. “What makes sense is for America’s jobs to be reserved for people who are legally entitled to compete for them.”

The coalition slammed establishment black leaders in the press conference, saying they do not represent the African-American community on this issue. They said they also feel betrayed by the NAACP and big labor, both of which have backed amnesty proposals.

“Elite leadership is not the same as the black grassroots,” said Frank Morris, former executive director of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation. He said the immigration issue is often the most divisive between elite black leaders and regular members of the black community.

The press conference comes on the heels of a letter sent earlier this month to Congressional Black Caucus Chairman Marcia Fudge (D., Ohio) by three members of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights asking the caucus to consider the damaging effects of the bill on the black community.

“Grant of legal status will likely disproportionately harm lower-skilled African-Americans by making it more difficult for them to obtain employment and depressing their wages when they do obtain employment,” the members wrote.

“Republicans better hope they can get enough Hispanic votes to make up for those they are losing.”

I think the Repubs also know the dems have a permanent lock on the White House, so without that unifying element, they’re now in the “screw it.. pander to every interest group” mode.

Well, El Marco lost his following from me the split instant he mentioned “immigration reform” instead of Border Control and Illegal Alien apprehension (he didn’t call his cousins that - something else innocuous).

There is not ONE Republican, conservative - whoever I will EVER vote for anything, or support that appeases on Immigration. They are horribly mistaken to believe that pandering to hispanics in this country will gain them any ground. We have been invaded; we should react as such.

They’ll effing find out just how many of us “locos” there are out here come 2014 and in 2016.

I won’t vote for anyone that votes for ANY immigration bill, other than one that reaffirms laws already on the books and FORCES the government to enforce them, period!

I thought we'd see a momentum shift after the Boston bombings......our current immigration standards brought us; foreign nationals imported and given citizenship, welfare, Mosques founded by terrorists.....just doing the menial terrorist jobs that Americans aren't willing to do....

The Boston bomber brothers lived lavishly, drove luxury cars, and had the leisure time, and money, to buy and build deadly bombs...with no visible means of support. Monthly welfare check would not suffice---they had to have several other sources of income.

A look at Tamerlan's reading list on Amazon shows he researched forging phony identities---a practice very common in the latino community.

PUT THIS IN YOUR BROWSER http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/registry.html?ie=UTF8&type=wishlist&id=1PNVMAW2D4CT1

======================================

NJ BERGEN RECORD CIRCA 2004---Pelcastre brothers, Angel and Jorge, Dallas, Texas, were a walking threat to US national security, expert document forgers who, for a few thousand dollars, could give anyone a new identity (many latinos establish multiple identities in order to ride the US gravy train).

The Texas brothers were a "one-stop shop" for a myriad of fake US documents, including birth certificates, Social Security cards, driver's licenses----for any state in the US------ passports and resident alien cards, said NJ state police.

The Texas brothers turned a NJ hotel room into a business office and were readying a massive cache of fake Social Security cards for delivery to a local NJ identity broker. Officers happened upon two cars bearing Texas plates in a NJ hotel parking lot.

The Texas brothers were followed to a NJ office supply store nearby where they purchased computer supplies. Officers then followed the Texans to a NJ storage facility in Secaucus, NJ, where the Texans loaded several boxes into a car. One of them stood lookout. After a search, police recovered laminating sheets with built-in security features, pages of blank documents waiting for fake names and information, finished documents, computers and software to create the fake IDs.

All told, the haul was worth about $500,000 on the street when sold to "impoverished illegals." Police also recovered $6,000 in cash, which was the first payment from a NJ fake document broker for a shipment of 500 phony Social Security cards. ####

Several year ago, a TV report concerned a US Post Office somewhere near the Mexican border that was used by illegals to send money home. It was so busy the US Govt. put in several trailers to handle the business.

===========================================

The Third World knows massive financial benefits would derive from "immigration reform"......Third world pressure groups exchanging votes for foreign aid---zillions of us tax dollars going straight into the pockets of corrupt third world federales.

THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES W/ PRESSURE GROUPS IN THE US (here illegally sending billions back home): Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominica Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico (stateside), Salvador, Spain, Uruguay, Venezuela.

I have already called and e-mailed his offices letting them know he has lost me and many others. This from one who supported him through the campaign in work and money with automatic monthly contributions that extended to his PAC after he won. I cut it off a year ago when he started to waffle.

I also let them know I would do the same in support of someone who can present the creds of a conservative record and this time the words must match the record, which he had very little of.

I agree that we may have been duped, but remember, the choice was between him and Crist. McCallister kept shooting himself in the foot.

The political elite are drooling over the social impact this amnesty will have. While many have rightly pointed out this will bring millions of new Democrat votes it will also bring a new wave of civil rights issues forward. Americans aren't likely to open their minds, arms and hearts to millions of law breakers forced upon them. It's going to get ugly, socially speaking, and you can bet the lawyers in America are drooling over the millions of potential civil rights cases that will be created thanks to amnesty.

This tells me GOP is perfectly happy to be the rubber stamp for DEM.

They don't want control, if they win any election (happy accident), they just want to continue to enjoy their perks and ‘prestige’.

Immigration reform is the gateway to terrorism. "Undocumented" is code for "ethnic solidarity" (Boston bombers w/ a latino accent).US politicans aiding and abetting ethnic solidarity should be investigated----determine who is giving them their marching orders----for collusion and conspiracy with foreign agents to undermine US ntl security and endanger Americans.

The word is out: "undocumented" terrorists, come on down---invade the US, and bring bombs. It's open season to conduct dirty deeds....and US politicans are helping us."

=========================================================

"UNDOCUMENTED ALIIENS" TEACH ETHNIC SOLIDARITY---AND VOW TO KILL AMERICANS.

BLOOD-CURDLING "LA RAZA STUDIES"--- ACTUALLY TAUGHT IN ARIZONA SCHOOLS FOR TEN YEARS : These shocking quotes are taken directly from A LA Raza textbook "Occupied America" (pg. 167): “Supporters would execute all white males over age 16,” (also known as the Plan of San Diego). LA Raza school textbook chapter from “Occupied America,” by Rodolfo Acuña, includes a speech given by university professor Jose Angel Gutierrez: “We have got to eliminate the gringo, and if worst comes to the worst, we have got to kill him,” (pg. 323).

La Raza books also talk about the need for the govt of Mexico to re-take seven states in SW United States. so that the Southwest USA would become a Chicano nation.

YOU ARE PAYING FOR THIS In 2005 alone, $7.9 million in taxpayer funding was given to "La Raza charter schools" via the US Dept of Education grants. These charter schools stress Latino culture, the Spanish language, the re-conquest of the American Southwest, the establishment of the mythical Atzlan on US soil, and even Aztec math.

La Raza is using taxpayer funds to organize the murdering of Americans; the federally-funded La Raza organization operates 100 charter schools across America.

ARIZONA SCHOOL BOARD NUT CASE--- Adelita Grijalva is the woman on the Arizona school board pimping La Raza ethnic solidarity indoctrination programs in Tuscon schools. Adelita is all up in arms about Raza Studies getting tossed via the AZ state legislature's action...she is the daughter of Raul Grijalva (D-AZ-7) who was just narrowly re-elected to our US Congress.

Cong Raul Grijalva (and friend) is one of Mexico’s most productive and loyal representatives in our Congress....aiding-- abetting and funding La Raza studies.

Michelle Malkin: America's Insane Asylum for Jihadists, Hustlers and Frauds
Creators Syndicate | April 24, 2013 | Michelle Malkin / FR Posted by jazusamo

In the aftermath of the Boston Marathon killing spree by foreign-born jihadists, see-no-evil bureaucrats in Washington are stubbornly defending America's lax asylum policies. DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano told the Senate Tuesday that the screening process is rigorous, effective and extensive.

These people can't handle the truth. Or tell it.

The Tsarnaev brothers reportedly were granted asylum by "derivative" status through their parents. After entering on short-term tourist visas, the mother and father (an ethnic Chechen Muslim) won asylum and acquired U.S. citizenship.

Next, younger son Dzhokhar obtained U.S. citizenship. Older son Tamerlan, whose naturalization application was pending, traveled freely between the U.S. and the jihad recruitment zone of Dagestan, Russia, last year before the bombers' gunfight in Watertown, Mass., last week left the Muslim terrorist dead.

Though they had convinced the U.S. that they faced deadly persecution, the Tsarnaevs' parents both returned to their native land and were there when their sons launched last week's terror rampage. Authorities will not reveal any details of the sob stories the Tsarnaevs originally spun to win asylum benefits for the entire family.

The whole thing stinks. And it's an old, familiar stench. Immigration lawyers have been working the system on behalf of asylum con artists for decades. The racketeers coach applicants with phony stories and documents from "chop shops" and game their way through "refugee roulette."

Asylum and refugee claimants are being rubber-stamped at all-time-high rates. Government data analyzed by the nonpartisan TRAC website show that "the odds of an asylum claim being denied in Immigration Court reached an historic low in FY 2012, with only 44.5 percent being turned down.

Ten years ago, almost two out of three (62.6 percent) individuals seeking asylum lost their cases in similar actions. Twenty years ago, fewer than one out of four (24 percent) asylum...(Excerpt) Read more at creators.com ...

Never give up. Who knew sap-happy Ohaha’s obsession w/ gun control would fail?

It failed last week... but the enemy, unlike the GOP, never quits. Like the cancer it is, the enemy continually probes for weak spots to exploit. Because they know, in the end, the GOP will shrink from a fight, they keep pressing ever forward.

And immigration is different... amnesty, citizenship and voting rights are the holy grail for La Raza and the other pressure groups. And, oh by the way... all that talk about "border security" is just that... talk.

Sorry... I don't share the optimism anymore.
