Skip to comments. As two prominent GOP women fade, a question of how to woo female voters (Guess who they mean?)

Michele Bachmann's taking a bow. Sarah Palin's star has faded. With the brassy, blow-dried bombasts of the GOP moving to the sidelines, there's no elected heir apparent to inherit the mantle and carry the conservative crusade forward on the national stage.
What does that mean for a Republican Party struggling to woo the women voters it needs to win national elections?
It may be for the best, say some of the GOP operatives who have been pushing the party to rebrand itself after its 2012 losses.
"They and their style gives short shrift to other women in the GOP," said Sara Taylor Fagen, a longtime Republican strategist who worked on Mitt Romney's first presidential campaign. "And so the risk for the party is when they become the only face. It does have the possibility of alienating groups of women, and that is a challenge."
That's not to say Palin and Bachmann don't have their defenders. The Susan B. Anthony List works to elect anti-abortion women candidates, and the group's president, Marjorie Dannenfelser, argues that both women were trailblazers and role models for anti-abortion, stay-at-home moms who might not otherwise believe they were capable of running for office.
She says Palin and Bachmann have been unfairly ostracized and ridiculed -- not just by Democrats, but by Republicans, too.
"They both became very isolated in elite circles, in Republican circles," Dannenfelser said. "They've gotten immense grassroots support, but then what they experience among the elite in D.C., and board rooms in New York -- they're reviled."(continued)

I’ll be surprised if this is the last we see of Michelle Bachmann. I think she’s going to go Palin on us. I think the commie libs really messed up again. JMO.
Wow. “Brassy”? That’s liberal code for “uppitty conservative woman”.
NBC news says it about conservative Republicans? Oh, it MUST be true!!!
Did Dems field a woman candidate to woo women voters? No.
Palin and Bachmann are “brassy, blow-dried bombasts,” but Nancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton are ... what again?
Ping to Sarah's List if you can stomach this.
NBC News! Ha! These people have the intellect of a Carpenter Ant!
I wonder how long before they figure out that Bachmann will still be there for another 18 months or so.
And I thought this was going to be about Phylis Schlafly.
Or: “Now that we (hopefully) have run Palin out of the political scene, have we killed the GOP’s chances to show that they are in reality for women?”
NBC Politics is washed up LOL..how long has Sarah Palin been irrelevant, I think its been what, 5 years now..damn..I wish I was irrelevant too!! Yeah she is so irrelevant they have to write about her every single day and follow her around and report on every word that she says or tweets..yeah, I think most in Washington DC wish they were that irrelevant
Yeah, “brassy” women don’t sit there with their mouths shut, now do they?
Since nobody watches NBC, why should anyone pay any attention to what they have to say? I mean, really? Who cares?
Kasie, you ignorant, jealous, and catty slut.
If Sarah and Michelle are fading from prominence, why are the media obsessed in writing about them? I smell FEAR.
I saw an article today where the moron's headline said that even with Bachmann gone, the GOP is still crazy. I don't think the boy gets out much. He's obviously clueless about what is going on.
Palin is still the most important republican politician in the party, she plays the major (positive) role in every election cycle, so the media should wait for one that she doesn’t carry the influence in, before they try this nonsense.
Palin could win if she began talking about the future rather than the past.
Pray for America to Wake Up
That’s cause all those dem “women” look like they are half man. I don’t know who they woo.
Oh geez, I had forgotten about the Woman Haters Club! How funny - thanks for reminding me!
The same way Mr. Obama did?
Even without Michele Bachmann, the GOP is still crazy
Consider the source; Kasie
We need to broadcast every time the liberals show their true sexism and racism. Even if that means drawing attention to outlets like NBC and MSNBC.
Palin is reloading.
Misogynist Porky Pig Rove and his ilk trash Conservatives and especially Conservative women. The GOPe is very afraid of losing control to Conservatives. It is hard enough running against criminal DemocRats and then being backstabbed by members of your own party. The prominent GOP woman is now Goober Gramnesty. Today’s Gelding Old Party has retreated to their roots ... Old Liberal White Men.
Whenever I read BS like this I quickly go to the source—NBC nuff said.
They wish that these ladies would just disappear.
Don’t you just love it when GOP strategists bad mout the only two women in the GOP with real Conservative values.
I sure hope the GOP can make it without my money, I never intend to send them another stinking dime.
Palin and Bachmann are two of the most talented, articulate and good-looking spokesmen that conservatives have ever had. We are truly blessed to have them.
So why on earth on they leaving office? With such weaselly phony excuses?
Quitting is the WORST possible thing anyone can do in politics. Voters will forgive a lot of failings, but not that.
That’s an insult to Carpenter Ants! At least they do something constructive, or de-constructive as the case may be...
The political pendulum swings, and the media gave it a huge extra push in 2008 in favor of an inexperienced, slick-talking incompetent, and it's going to be swinging back the other way just as hard. A lot of people are likely to fall by the wayside when it does, and not all of them are Democrats.
NBC and the rest of the lib media wouldn’t be happy if the GOP selected Lady Gaga as their spokesperson.
The way to “woo” all of the liberal assigned special interests surrounding the GOP is to STICK TO OUR CONSERVATIVE PRINCIPLES!!!!!!
They comprise our ONLY cohesive mechanism!
Pandering ALWAYS drives away more support than it engenders!!
It is not possible to out-pander the liberals!!!
To Kasie Hunt I say, ‘Bitch, Please!’ LOL!
GOP dream ticket, if we could just marginalize the Tokyo Roves and Coulters.
Nancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton are ... what again?
Hail damaged, swivel-eyed loons? (credit to the brit)
“Ill be surprised if this is the last we see of Michelle Bachmann. I think shes going to go Palin on us. I think the commie libs really messed up again. JMO.”
I believe you’re right about that. The talk of Michelle taking a bow and Sarah’s star fading is nothing but wishful thinking for leftists.
Michelle is leaving DC, not the US. And Sarah was just recently calling obama out on his dirty lies, letting him know his community organizing tactics have left him looking like the inexperienced know-nothing he is. She’s giving him fits!
Neither one is about to back down and let these thugs win.
I find it personally offensive that Michelle Bachman is mentioned as being in the same league as Gov Palin
I love Sarah, but Bachman is a embarrasment
She (Michelle) stepped on it a bit, but we haven’t heard the last of her.
Sarah P. is in a league of her own, and has been for about 4-5 years now.
They are others in the wings, but she is the archetype/prototype heroine.
Be still my heart...
The mid-terms are looming- she’s ready to kick some ass!
If either one of these ladies were elected we would get our wonderful country back and maybe put the goons in jail where they belong..I think a women like one of these two would do better than anyone to run this country..They have the guts and will to lead..they both love this country..
You would be Correct!
