Senator John McCain has been one of the strongest Republican voices in Congress opposing the conservative efforts to repeal, defund, or delay Obamacare. He took to the Senate floor on Tuesday to continue pressing that point, as well as scolding Congress and saying they should all be “ashamed” for allowing the government shutdown to keep going.
McCain was set off by the news that during the shutdown, military benefits are being held up. He said Congress is so unpopular that “we’re down to blood relatives and paid staffers” at this point, asking his colleagues, “Shouldn’t we be embarrassed about this? Shouldn’t we be ashamed?”
McCain called for both sides to “sit down and talk like grown-ups,” and proceeded to revisit exactly why he hasn’t been going along with the conservative fight on Obamacare.
“Somehow, to think that we are going to repeal Obamacare, which would have required 67 Republican votes, of course, was a false premise, and I think did the American people a great disservice by convincing them that somehow we could.”
He also addressed much of the cross-party and intra-party fighting going on in Washington, saying, “Stop attacking each other and impugning people’s integrity and honor!”

When is AZ going to get its act together and replace him.

That one was impossible. Do some research of the flightdeck plane spotting. There is no way possible he could have been responsible. His plane was in the wrong position vs the launch. I can't stand McCain but this is stupid scuttlebutt likely from a tinfoil source.
The Air Boss determines flightdeck spotting. Camera footage would show his position along with a spotting board {chart} where the AHS's shop is on the flighdeck. Cover up? No way in hell. Too many were on deck at the time.

John McCain once again attacks Ted Cruz’s filibuster and the idea of repealing Obamacare as a ‘fools errand’. Big surprise. But he does it with the WRONG facts. He was there when Obamacare passed and should remember that it was passed by Harry Reid under budget reconciliation because Scott Brown was elected. Brown’s election to the Senate gave the GOP filibuster power and in order to circumvent it they needed a way to pass it with a simple majority. Thus they rammed it down our throats via budget reconciliation. And because they passed it with a simple majority this way, it can be repealed with a simple majority.
Sorry John McCain, you get an ‘F’ on this one.

There was more than one fire and more than one explosion.
McCain was accused by others on the flight deck of having performed a ‘Wet Start’ meaning to allow the kerosine to pool before ignition and create a huge flame torch out from the afterburner.
McCain was the kind of small minded prick that would pull a stunt like that. He was known as a reckless brat of an admiral and a hot-shot jerk.
He had crashed several planes during flight training. His flight instructor flunked him but couldn’t make it stick because he was overriden by higher-ups who treated McCain as some sort of navy royalty.
I don’t think the reports of his wet start were phony.
The resulting conflagration became uncontrollable and I believe McCain’s antics were a causal element.
I don’t believe McCain was a hero. I think he was a jerk who got shot down or crashed his jet due to incompetence, and he suffered as a POW. He was a victim, not a hero.
Again as to the Forrestal fire, McCain was the only member to be reassigned immediately.
I don’t think it’s tin foil. His documented history of recklessness and his air of self-importance, his knuckleheaded behavior in the Senate, all point to a person who believes he is above reproach.
His daughter is a moron and I believe she takes after her father.
McCain is a coward and a collaborator. He always was.
The republican party is ashamed they elected McCain. And the old salt sailors are ashamed they didn’t court martial him.
Maybe he meant that so long as Osama is in office, outright repeal will require a veto-overriding majority. Not that I’m giving that assclown any cover, but that was what I assumed when I read that he said that.
Here is the flight-deck spotting about half way down the page on the right. Any previous fires even minutes before the missle launch would be in the Bridge Logs {Office Of The Deck}, The Air Boss Logs, Damage Control Central Logs, and on video tape if on the flighdeck.
1967 USS Forrestal fire McCain's plane was forward port side in line for launch on the aft Cats but still not moved to the Catapult. His engine exhaust would have went over the side. The plane from which the missile came was aft of him and from the starboard side.
What happened was the ship had just been on-loaded with substandard bombs that even the ships commanding officer made serious attempts to try and get it taken off the ship. Those bombs were on-loaded due to a shortage. They were WW2 vintage and poorly stored and maintained in the PI's. The Zuni launch in itself may have not been as serious but the older bombs were cracking open and cooking off. That is what caused the fatalities.
BTW how many times have you sen the flightdeck footage of the fire? I have no use for John McCain. I'd like to see him out of office for good. But posting internet RUMORS and calling them facts doesn't help your or my cause in obtaining that.

Yea that incident was horrible enough without Scuttlebutt being added to it. It was an accident waiting to happen. Higher paygrades than McCain betted on some aged and detiorated bombs and the crew paid the price. A good lesson in you can't ever have enough up to date reliable ordnance.
The Navy uses the footage of the fire for training. All recruits see it in basic or did when I was in. I went to fire fighting school several times and we saw it there also. Mistakes were made after the explosions started mainly due to communication issues. That does not by any means take away form the heroics of the ships crew that day. I would expect as much. The HI-CAP System to remotely foam the flightdeck had not yet been developed but was developed as a result of that and other carrier fires in a short time frame.
Yeah and John Frikkin’ McCain was elected on a ‘false premise’.
