The RNCs Growth and Opportunity Project, released in March, .... 14 recommendations intended to attract young voters, including forming a celebrity task force, empowering younger voices in digital issues, having Republicans appear more frequently on previously ignored media outlets, and making the party more welcoming.
The (College Republican National Committee)'s report, released in June, focused exclusively on young voters and was scathing in its assessment of how negatively young voters saw the Republican Party. Most salient among its findings were the feedback from focus groups composed of potential Republican voters. In addition to noting that they didnt expect the GOP to reach out to them, participants described the party as closed-minded, racist, rigid and old-fashioned.
.... Weve become the party that will pat you on your back when you make it, but wont offer you a hand to help you get there, the report concluded.

A Rebranding Problem, or a Policy Problem?
While Republicans have taken steps to expand their outreach to young voters in the months since then, they have yet to make tangible progress, a number of observers say.

Beginning in January, they have to pay for health insurance whether they want to or not, and the basic policy will only reimburse their expenses if they have a heart bypass or cancer, after, of course, they pony up an extra $5,000. Even the most rabid Obumba supporter will have to come up with $5,000 for their "free" sex change operation.
The Millennials are the most ignorant self centered and selfish generation in the history of America. Illustrate the ways that government cheats and steals from them, and they may listen.
For those of you who are Millennials and do not fall in the ignorant self centered and selfish category, you know you are the vast minority, so don't get so up in arms about my statement - do something to knock some sense into your friends.
The reason I excerpt the paragraph "Weve become the party that will pat you on your back when you make it, but wont offer you a hand to help you get there, the report concluded." and my question about 'Life of Julia' is
Do these Millennials see FREE contraception and/or free abortions and what else as Dems offer them a hand to help them get 'there'
The Millennials are fundamentally narcissists.
Self absorbed.
Ideologically motivated ?
Yes.
Until “they” are affected.
Obamacare will affect them.
Remember, they bought into the idea that the rich were supposed to pay for this.
In order for them to embrace the democrat party, they will need to embrace their role going forward.
That role includes paying for something they don’t need or want, for the benefit of someone else.
That role includes giving up any and all expectations of privacy.
You tell me ?
Does a narcissists do this ?
Miss Romney yet?
A new Tea Party might. But the GOP, the party of perennial losers, spineless whiners & lib-lite morons? I don’t see the draw.
The characteristics they don't like in Republicans describe RINOs, not constitutional conservatives. Republicans can win if the RINOs step back, stop being the globalist-corporate-elite party and go back to a conservative-libertarian small government message.
The RINOs are so hypocritical. Just a month or so ago they wanted the hispanic vote. Now they're insulting Ted Cruz. They say they don't want Obamacare, but it turns out they do. The sooner the RINOs slither away, the better.
JMHO
If they continue to blame “the economy” for not giving them a Skittle-pooping Unicorn and those evil Boomers for taking all the good jobs and forcing them to live in mom’s basement and experience life vicariously through Facebook and Twitter - no.
Yep.
Trouble is, most of the GOP-e has a fetish for snooping into people’s electronic (and paper) communications. As bad as liberals are about wanting to dispense with the Second Amendment, Republicans are about abusing the Fourth Amendment.
I don’t know, as unhappy as they have become, there has been no sign that the young blame the true culprits yet.
If there are signs, I am sure it shall not (will not) be reported.
Earlier someone had posted an article from 1956 concerning the necessity of Christianity to Conservatism by Russel Kirk
(I thought I had bookmarked it, but I guess not ... if someone has the link, I'd like to have it)
Anyway, as a born again Christian, I'm concerned about the lack of Christianity represented by our young people.
I haven't thought this completely through yet, but my thought was a preacher that didn't dress in shirt and tie ... maybe even fatigues ... and the language of standards (dresses on girls, short hair for men .. etc. ... not to single those out, but as reference)
Just about no one smokes these days, but what if a fundamental preacher did smoke and did not condemn it, yet preached the gospel of salvation by grace through faith. ?
What Obama provides is a solid wall of support and acceptance. With McCain, Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham etc what you have is creepy old men who don't hear or care about what ails the nation. The model of supporting big business and big government is not going to win anyone over.
Like I said, RINOs should just slither away.
There’s an obvious slogan the GOP could use to win over women of any age:
“Do you really want men in your public restrooms?”
Yes
But with a difference.
They, the rinos are happy to fall in line as they collect a boat load of dollars from the beltway bandits in the name of "National Security".
It's about the money.
The Tea Party is NOT REPUBLICAN, it is the party of the "Classic Liberal".
They have simply found their "IN" among the existing Republican Party.
You can only mean pro-abortion and pro-gay marriage, and pro-immigration, and the rest of the libertarian, lefty social agenda.
You want us to beat the democrats on being liberal and anti-conservative?
Let’s Go !!!
You want us to beat the democrats on being liberal and anti-conservative?
I want ask you just one question.
Should the Government "Tell" people what to believe or should we "trust" individuals to make their own decisions ?
Bingo! I think Obamacare is going to be the biggest story of all in 2014+.
If you want to promote a pro-abortion, anti-marriage, pro-homosexualizing the military position do it, don’t pretend a fake, made up position of “””Should the Government “Tell” people what to believe or should we “trust” individuals to make their own decisions ?”””
You really think conservatism is about wanting to “tell people what to believe”?
What are your defenses or arguments for being pro-abortion and pro-gay marriage, and pro-immigration, and the rest of the libertarian, lefty social agenda?
You want us to beat the democrats on being liberal and anti-conservative?
Nonetheless, Hill remains as publicly upbeat about his quest as most national Republicans are about their effort to regain the youth vote. Whether Hills optimism -- and the GOPs new youth outreach -- can be channeled into a broader, younger Republican coalition remains to be seen.
Mark Udall is a gun grabber in a state that just recalled two sstate senators on that issue.
Americans, Especially Young Ones, Say People "Should Be Allowed" to Own Assault Weapons
Don't forget that the rats have resumed their old gun grabbing tendency.
