After Tuesday, it's time for the tea party to leave (Don't they wish?!)
The Star Ledger ^ | November 7, 2013 | Paul Mulshine

A lot of people are pronouncing the tea party movement dead after Tuesday’s election results.

Goodbye and good riddance. The tea party movement was fun for a while. But before long it was taken over by know-it-alls and knuckleheads.

If you doubt that, consider all of those partiers who like to say that the "tea" in "tea party" stands for "Taxed Enough Already." This is what is known as a "backronym." A backronym is formed when someone takes a perfectly good English word and tries to treat it as if it were an acronym.

Every time I mention the slang term for a Jersey Shore tourist, for example, someone will comment that "benny" derives from an old railroad baggage tag applied to luggage headed to "Bergen, Essex, Newark and New York." A suitcase with such a tag on it would have ended up in four different places, but never mind. Such a sentiment is comforting to a certain sort of mind.

We see a similar phenomenon among the tea partiers who obscure the origins of that noble term, which derives from the 1773 Boston Tea Party. The fight there was over an important principle, whether the British constitution permitted Parliament to impose taxes on colonists.

But when today’s partiers object to being taxed "enough," they never mention which tax they’d like to see eliminated. Certainly not the payroll tax that funds Medicare. A look around the room at the typical tea party session will reveal that most of the audience is old enough to be on that program.

The tea party’s objections to Obamacare as socialized medicine weren’t based on principle. They were based on naked self-interest. This new government program threatened to cut into the benefits they received from the old government program....

Ron Paul the "Godfather of the Tea Party"?

That's news to me.

If the Tea Party is history, why write about it? It is because, deep down inside, you know the breadth of the movement, the depth of its rage, the contempt with which it holds you and your ilk, and that when the lid blows, business and politics as usual will be gone. The Tea Party has not gone away since 2009, history has shown us to be right about Obama and his radical leftist friends (in and out of Congress), and when we get the opportunity to be defined by ourselves, our message is replete with wisdom and common sense that resonates with the educated (not brainwashed) and simple-minded alike. No, Mr. Mulshine, you talk about us because you are afraid of us and because in a fair exchange of ideas, your political ideology and track record are indefensible. Be very, very afraid, Mr. Mulshine. We are coming for the likes of you.

I suppose I can add to the list... "time for the tea party to leave," along with: TEA Party is losing ground, fatal blow, "tea party movement dead," fading fast, doesn't matter, influencing immigration reform weaker than ever,’ no longer relevant, etc.

According to this it has been for years now...

"After Tuesday, it's time for the tea party to leave"

Humm... one thing I see faiding is the ink in the older headlines.

Another thing I see is a couple of "TEA Party types" and a few supporters just pinned the entire little bammy "administration" to the mat for 16 straight days.

Just like “half-term Governor Sarah Palin” and her “15 minutes of Fame” that never seem to end. She’s a “quitter,” “Caribou Barbie,” “ignorant and stupid,” “reality show star,” “has-been,” loser who somehow still gets more press than most United States Senators, Congressmen and current Governors. About the only politician who gets more coverage is the neophyte in the White House. Ever notice that?

The Tea Party is stronger than ever. In Virginia, 55 percent voted for smaller government.

Just like “half-term Governor Sarah Palin” . . . who somehow still gets more press than most United States Senators, (most) Congressmen and (most) current Governors (combined).

Yeah, I caught that one too!

But one thing you can count on is some concern troll trotting out the old Vice President Candidate Sara Palin Univison interview as "proof" of her position on illegal aliens in almost all posts regarding her here at FR.

They seem to be unable to resist, it's like bugs to a flame...
