Ted Cruz, R-Texas, has won another straw poll, boosting his national profile and elevating his name among potential 2016 presidential contenders.

The firebrand freshman senator and tea party favorite was among a handful of 2016 hopefuls speaking at the Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans this week.

Cruz finished in first place in the annual conference's presidential straw poll at 30.33%. Dr. Ben Carson, a Fox News commentator and conservative activist, finished in second with 29.38% while Sen. Rand Paul, R-Kentucky, was third with 10.43%.

In many respects, the most heartening aspect of this poll is the sad finish of the nominal GOP-e contingent.

7. Jeb Bush — 4.42 percent
8. Marco Rubio — 3.32 percent
...
10. Paul Ryan — 2.05 percent
...
12. Chris Christie — 1.11%

And that character will never be found again in a president who has white skin. I’m sticking to my thesis.

I get what you’re saying. On a technicality you are right. Cruz is Hispanic, his name is Hispanic and he is the best conservative thinker of the lot and enjoys the most support.

He is not Anglo, so your thesis is intact.

I’ve been to RLCs many moons ago, they’re the opposite of the GOProud/Log Cabin CPAC-type meetings.

Hispanic is a broad term.

The terms "Hispanic" and "latino/a" are based on the words "Spain" and "Latin."

Latin as in the language of European Caucasians. Spain, as in the Caucasian European country.

In reality, "Hispanic" and "latino/a" refer to dark-skinned indigenous natives of nations in the Western hemisphere colonized hundreds of years ago by Spanish-speaking conquerors.

It is a term used to determine a race based on a linguistic foundation, as if language determined race.

It's actually a pretty interesting evolution of language being an impediment to communication, as Hobbes might remark to Calvin (Calvin & Hobbes)!

No flogging here. We are going to have to have a minority candidate in order to win. I love my Senator Ted Cruz and I’d be extremely happy if he is the GOP Nominee in 2016. But, there is one person whom I think can beat Hillary more easily than anyone. See my tagline.

Only Democrats care about race.

People are going for novelty.
___________________________________________________________

Go for whatever freakin’ works or stay in the “Lost Column”. If you can find a “novel” candidate who is viable and Conservative.... why the hell not? I’d vote for a one-eyed crack whore if that would, somehow, rid us of B. Hussein Obama, Hillary Clinton and Harry Reid.

"We are going to have to have a minority candidate in order to win."

Exactly. Putting a White candidate out there would be a death sentence.

Are they going to deport the millions and millions of illegals so we can take their jobs?
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

I am NOT a proponent of Amnesty or Illegal Immigrants. But, as far as your argument, that ol’ dog won’t hunt. I lived in the Hill Country of Texas for sometime before returning to my native home of Southeast Texas. In the Hill Country, you cannot hire White guys to chop Cedar for $20 an hour. Mexicans do it for $5.00 an hour. So, go on over and replace any one of them you choose; take their job for $5 and hour. Good luck!
