(VIDEO-AT-LINK)

It's a runoff in two days that is the focus of the country. Mississippi voters will decide the fate of veteran Republican Sen. Thad Cochran. He's being challenged by tea party candidate Chris McDaniel.

The vote comes two weeks after the House majority leader, Eric Cantor, lost a primary stunner in Virginia.

Mississippi's primary runoff is now a political blockbuster. And it's attracting plenty of star power.

"I encourage you to stand with a proven and respected leader," says former NFL quarterback Brett Favre, a Mississippi native, in one TV ad.

"Chris McDaniel is a type of guy who will fight for us," Republican 2008 vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin declares in a radio ad.

The Southern showdown between Cochran and McDaniel has turned into a battle for the ages. Local polls show the race is tight - but polls said the Cantor primary race was close, too.

CBS News' Political Director John Dickerson says the midterm primaries are straddling the GOP's future....

Is the average Mississippian aware of what Cochran and them are doing: Trying to buy Black Democrat’s votes to win the GOP Primary? If so, how is that playing out?

I can’t make the connection between your question and this thread but since you asked, I find it hard to believe blacks in Ms will vote for any republican in large numbers under any circumstances. For 100 years they have been told the republicans are worse than Satan now all of sudden they are supposed to vote for one.

Thanks so much for that info. It’s encouraging. I apologize for the miscommunication. My bad; I should have been more more specific. This “buying of Black Dem votes” by Cochran and “Boss Hog” Barbour has me so angry; I’m not thinking straight. Thanks again.

One Tea Party dude, Wesley Rule, admits that he’s supporting Cochran.

“Wesley Rule sees the strain - in his own tea party. He’s supporting the incumbent.”

He sees the strain in his own Tea Party. Uh..... yeah.... I guess there is a strain bi**h. You infiltrate the local Tea Party and support one of the GOP Establishment guys who wants to CRUSH every candidate endorsed and supported by Tea Party folk and you don’t expect it to be a “strained” relationship?

I hope Wesley has the flu on Election day and spends the day on the toilet with diarrhea and puking.

HE WHO DOES NOT LIKE REVENGE HAS NEVER TASTED IT!

Just noticed your tag line:

“Susana Martinez in 2016! Governor, Conservative, Female and Hispanic.”

Are you aware that 61% of Hispanics voted AGAINST Martinez in the 2010 election?

Martinez would have lost that election if Hispanic voters had turned out at the same rate they turned out in 2008.

Also - In 2012, Albuquerque voted on a city initiative to outlaw third term abortions.

Martinez refused to take a public position on the issue.

Since Martinez is a former Democrat, her silence on that issue is going to be very troubling to Conservatives.

We all know who Bryant would pick. He’s a fatass lobbyist with the initials HB.

And who, ironically, like Chris McDaniel, ran against an entrenched GOP incumbent Senator many years ago, though he lost his bid.

My son works for International Paper in Vicksburg. His supervisor is a educated black female. She told him today that Charles Evers is encouraging the blacks to vote for Thad and that she was planning to do so. He told her that Haley was behind it and was planing to pick Thad’s replacement after the election. After that he said she hates Haley an was seriously considering changing her mind.

If the Democrat nominee can get even 25% of the white vote, that might be enough to beat the Republican.

And?

Got this little jewel in the mail today. Haley front and
center poor old Thad fading out in the back ground.
I think this speaks volumes.

That is so disheartening. I’m afraid “Boss Hog” barbour is gonna pull this out for Thad.

The only people who canNOT vote in the GOP run-off are the 85,000 ppeople who voted in the Democrat Primary on june 3. Anyone else who was registered to vote in time for the the June 3rd Primary can vote in the GOP run-off.

If Cochran and Haley steal this Election by buying Democrat votes, then CHRIS MUST RUN AS AN INDEPENDENT IN NOVEMBER. Let’s see if Thad can get enouh Dems to pull him to victory with a Dem and Chris running against him.

Well, that’s at least 85,000 cheats who won’t be able to cheat. Comparatively, 85,000 sounds like a lot of people for a non presidential election Democrat turnout. IIRC that’s more Democrats than voted here in Georgia.

I think they’d be digging deep at the bottom of the barrel to surmount the lead McDaniel has now.

Here’s hoping.
