How about a Rush's return countdown ala California Election?
If October 3 is day 1 then this is day 14, 16 days to go!
It would be a blast to send his return ratings through the roof. If nothing else, it will send the left into a tizzy. Message is more important than the messenger.

Rush will be back in this market. We have 3 talk radio stations, not even counting the Christian talk station. The lone liberal is Alan Combs, who recently replaced Tom Leykis. Everyone else is conservative. I'll bet you his first week back will be his highest-rated ever. Even the libs won't be able to stay away.

Rush should have been cultivating a *regular* guest host for his audience, as Carson had with Joan Rivers and Leno. Someone the audience actually looks forward to when Rush is away. I guess he used to have that with Sean Hannity.

I was wracking my brain trying to think of somebody appropriate that wasn't already tied up. I suppose he could try Coulter, but she comes across terribly on the radio, and has a little problem with self restraint if there isn't a camera or a live audience. He could maybe try a pol - Gingrich would probably be a lot of fun.

He shares Rush's wide scope of topics, his sensibilities and his outlook on things.
He has a fine voice and great rapport with his callers.
After all that time as Rush's call-screener, he hosted his own show for a couple of years before Rush brought him back as an assistant when he went completely deaf.
I think they should let him guest-host at least a few of the shows during these weeks. I think it would be wise if they "groomed" him as the primary guest host.
On his shows you can hear the influence. Sort of like when you see a painting "by the school of" a Renaissance Master.

Innocent until proven guilty. And, if proven guilty (of buying prescription medicines illegally), suffering the determined penalty for the offense.

Ditto. Romey is much better to listen to than the other Rush alternatives. And funnier. Much. Now please God, let the Yankees win this series........

Prager is a nice man, but have you ever noticed something about him? He appears to have been born without any sense of humor whatsoever! He never laughs or sees anything as funny. The closest he comes is rueful laughter when simple shock and dismay will not do.
That said, I do not want to bash him at all. We conservative Jews are so rare we should be bred in captivity. We are a lot cuter than those darn condors, too.

I know much of the nation gets Rush noon to 3 but I couldn't imagine waiting so long in the day to get my Rush fix. I like knowing that you barely have to get through breakfast before he comes on out here! (9 to 12)

I do not think the guest hosts would make it if Rush (may G-d forbid) never came back. They really are there to sub for the Main Guy. As good as they are, they aren't Rush and the show really does belong to him.
If he can be blessed with a full healing, there is no reason why he can't take better care of his health and extend his run at least another 20 years. How old is Paul Harvey, anyway?
