When nip comes to tuck, Hillary will twist the screws and force them to vote along party lines, particularly when it comes to judges.

A moderate Republican is always a better bet than a moderate Democrat.

I propose doing so by destroying enemy number one of the Constitution, the corrupt socialist Democrat Party.

It is a culture war (and the word "war" is by no means used as a euphemism) and the Democrat Party's primary goal is to destroy traditional America and its bedrock foundation, the traditional family unit.

Like it or not, the most potent weapon we have for effectively waging this war is the Republican Party because of its extensive resources and the full-fledged political apparatus that the Party already has in place.

Strict-constructionist Constitutional "third parties" are a loser, no matter how appealing they may seem from a purist ideological point of view, because they simply cannot compete at this point. And in the time it would take to develop one (or use one to "send a message") the America-haters of the Democrat Party and the left would have all the time they need to "finish the job". Therefore, the only viable and pragmatic course of action is to keep moving the Republican Party in the right direction through grass-roots activism and the fielding of strong candidates from the local level right on up.

The scumbags must not prevail.

I remember what it was like growing up in this country throughout the '50s and '60s and I look at my children today with very deep concern indeed. Was Leave It To Beaver realistic? LOFL, of course not! But does it represent at least one worthwhile ideal? Yep indeedy. And, as a utopian portrayal of a traditional American family, it is exactly the kind of ideal which is anathema to the scumbags of the left.

Who can ever forget the 1992 Democrat Convention when Bill Clinton literally mocked "family values" as the crowd cheered in delight? I have loathed Clinton ever since. It made me want to throw up.

No. The scumbags must never prevail.

     ...and are fighting the same fight you do from within the Democratic party.


Not to worry ... the most seasoned, if not influential, of the GOP leadership is never so vindictive, petty or small that they fail to recognize the sort of Democrat who "consistently and courageously fought for his principles ... his commitment to excellence in public policy and his devotion to public service serv[ing] as an inspiration to all Americans." .

Well written. I agree with one possible exception.

I know and love a lot of liberals and Democrats. I do not think these people are evil or trying to overthrow the Constitution. I just think they are misled by media, academia, and their foolish friends and neighbors.

Therefore, not every liberal or even every self-proclaimed socialist is an enemy. They are just falling for a pretty package.

I have lived under socialism, and I know FIRST HAND why it is wrong and does not work. There is no lesson like being able-bodied and paid a ransom not to work.

I have been liberal (as a young student) and I have seen the light; I know why that way of thinking is so popular: it's SWEET and LIGHT and EASY. Everything else looks so MEAN. Unfortunately, liberalism is a lie, and under the sugary surface it is not even kind to those it attempts to "help." It's as phony as a Clinton tear.

I am so glad you founded Free Republic. This is the greatest site on the Web. Long may it reign.

This is why the founders of this great REPUBLIC wrote the 2nd amendment into the Bill of Rights.
