Letter to the Editor:
Mr. Henninger displays the symptoms of the disease he describes in his failure to mention the right's role in polarizing this country: The unremitting Clinton-bashing during the entirety of that administration, groups like the Free Republic, whose leader recently swore hatred for the Democrats who are "destroying the Constitution" and "setting up a totalitarian state," Ann Coulter accusing liberals of "treason," Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly's constant assaults. Right-wingers have been holding up their end of the polarization of America.

Oh, we're getting polarized all right. And that's because many of us have expressed a sincere desire to stop compromising with the left. We've compromised with them all the way to the brink of pits of hell. Now that we're trying to apply the brakes to keep from sliding over edge, they're whining about polarization. Tell you what. I'll be ready to compromise again, just as soon as the left starts compromising toward a return to constitutionally limited government and for more freedom rather than less!
Thank you all very much! Now take me to your leader!!

"And that's because many of us have expressed a sincere desire to stop compromising with the left. We've compromised with them all the way to the brink of pits of hell."
I have to agree. And that -forces- me to bring up a very amusing little story.
I was on Frank Luntz's American Voices last weekend on MSNBC. Drove all the way from NJ to Washington D.C. just for that. During the taping, we were given these little devices where we could turn the knob from 1 to 100. We were supposed to turn the knobs toward 1 if we disagreed with what was being said, and toward 100 if we agreed.
While they were testing to make sure it was all working properly, Luntz went off on a little speech that was supposed to have us all in the 50 range. He started off with "We should work together... we should compromise... we need to find a middle ground..." Then he got all upset and said "Why are the Republicans disagreeing?!" with the assumption that we couldn't figure out how to use the device properly. Lol. I will own up right now that I was one of the ones turning the device toward 0. I went as low as 35 on that I think.
I didn't tell him it was purposeful and sincere. I just sat there and smiled :) And I suspect I wasn't the only Republican there doing that either.

Bashing is done to people who deserve every bash! The Felon demonstrated time and again that he is without character, ethics, morals or immunity from bashing. Never has there been a president more deserving of criticism, but people like the letter writer, Mr. Friedman, will never get it. Wisdom comes with maturity. RATS are permanently immature!

Oh yeah? Who's brilliant idea was/is it to stop logging?
To: aculeus
Right-wingers have been holding up their end of the polarization of America. Expressing a dissenting opinion and finding others who feel the same way is not what is causing the "polarization of America." We can thank the politics of triangulation for that. After eight years of creating and then pitting one group against another and then taking the middle position, the country ended up split 50%-50%.

If Mr. Friedman is so concerned about polarization in this country, he need look no further than to his own Senator whose (unsubstantiated) declaration of a "vast right wing conspiracy" is the very essence of polarization.
