The NAACP Abandons One of Its Own…Again

We’ve all known for a long time now that the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF) are nothing more than extensions of the ultra-liberal, Democratic Party agenda. The primary goal of these entities is to deliver the minority vote to Democratic candidates. Time and time again the NAACP and CBCF have failed to serve the people they so claim to support. Beginning with Clarence Thomas, continuing through Miguel Estrada, and now even with Janice Rogers Brown, these not-for-profit organizations show their political stripes, whenever their racially-charged, division causing agenda is challenged by one of their own. In the most recent case of abandonment, Janice Rogers Brown, a justice on the California State Supreme Court, who was recently nominated by President Bush to fill a vacancy on the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, created perhaps the largest uproar to date among supposed equal rights proprietors. Brown, a single mother originally from Alabama, has distinguished herself in California as the first African American woman to serve on state’s highest court. She has done such a magnificent job in California that, in 1998, the usually left leaning voters of the state awarded her with the highest re-election vote percentage of all judicial candidates on the ticket, 76%, despite being hands-down the most conservative of all the available choices. However, rather than grant Brown, an African American, the support she so deserves, the NAACP and CBCF have, instead, decided to create a roadblock in her rise to the second highest court in the nation. Why would these groups, who claim to be for the advancement of all minorities in America, oppose an African American woman from such a historical position? Simple…she’s not a democrat. Filibuster in the Senate is threatening Brown’s appointment to the D.C. Court of Appeals, despite this; the NAACP and the CBCF have failed to come to her aide. If she were a Democrat, perhaps it would be different. If she were a Democrat, the NAACP would pull out the trusty race card: everyone who opposed her would be deemed an intolerable bigot, worthy of castigation, but because she is a conservative Republican, the NAACP is leaving her dangling in the wind. Wouldn’t this appointment be a great step forward for “colored” people, as the NAACP so champions? One would think so, but not in the minds of the left. In question is Brown’s stance on Affirmative Action; the atrocity born in the 1960’s that grants minorities favoritism in hiring and promotion, college admissions, and the awarding of government contracts. It seems that she feels that minorities should make it on their own accord, without so much government assistance. Apparently, Brown perceives that groups like the NAACP and CBCF create second-class citizens out of minorities by generating dependence on governmental help and privileges. She has taken the stance that success or failure is a task should be managed by the individual. In the 1996 case upholding California Proposition 209, which struck down the idea of “participation goals” in the workplace in regard to minorities, Brown lashed out at the entire Affirmative Action agenda, “A participation goal differs from a quota…only in degree. By whatever label, it remains ‘a line drawn on the basis of race and ethnic standards’.” This notion of equality and fairness in the workplace is a slap in the face of the position of the left, whose idea of “equality and fairness” divides America through the lines of race, rather than ability. The hypocritical stance of the NAACP and CBCF is incredible. While claiming the goal of “elimination of all barriers of racial discrimination through democratic processes,” the NAACP has created a form of selective racism, in that, the advancement of minorities is a well and good, so long as said minorities believe the same things that they promote. While claiming to be non-partisan organizations, these groups have alienated one of their own through partisan ideas of what a good minority should think and believe.

The NAACP & CBCF are by far the most racist, discriminating self Centered @ssholes on the planet. They sacrafice one of their own without so much as a second glance, they need to go the way of the dinosaur and the rest of us try to live in peace. What bunch of Pricks!

exactly my point. The NAACP is a tax exempt institution. To retain tax exemption, it must be politically non partial. By only supporting the advancement of minorities who support the liberal agenda, the NAACP defeats its own purpose.

Mz. Brown, Esquire, is not "one of the NAACP's" own; She is an outstanding and patriotic American of character and integrity.

but, by claiming to support the advancment of "colored people" (love that, by the way lol) she should be "one of their own", but since she doesn't agree with their agenda, she apparently isn't.

it supports LIBERAL blacks.

Actually, the NAACP supports LIBERALS period. The organization was founded by a group of white liberals in 1909. There was only one black co-founder, the future communist W.E.B. Du Bois.
