The Democrat hit plan to undermine the commander-in-chief in a time of war has attracted the attention of a senior senator steeped in military and national security issues. The memo, which surfaced Tuesday on Sean Hannitys radio talk show, calls for Democrats on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence to use their positions on that panel to attack the Bush White House.
Now, a prominent senator who is not on the Intelligence Committee expressed outrage when informed by NewsMax of the existence of the apparent Democrat strategy to use the committees national security and classified information for partisan purposes, as men and women are facing the enemy on the front lines in the war on terror.
The senator, speaking not for attribution at this stage of the unfolding uproar, has a lot of clout on the Hill and is respected on matters related to war.
His comment comes as Hannity, on todays radio show, said he had been informed by a highly reliable source that despite his disclaimers to the contrary, Committee Co-Chairman Jay Rockefeller, D-W. Va., approved the drafting of the memo.
Committee Chairman Pat Roberts (R-Kan.), Tuesday called the memo a "slap in the face and "personally insulting," a reference to the part of the memo that mentions nudging the majority Republicans as far as possible in an investigation.
When that avenue is exhausted, says the Democrat strategy paper, the Democrats can demand a special investigation possibly timed for next years election.
One veteran of government law enforcement service told NewsMax this memo is not a partisan issue. Rather, he said, it is "an anti-American issue."

It's time.
This is the one. If we don't draw the line in the sand right here and stop ALL other Senate business, the people of America cannot trust the Senate Intelligence committee to give us straight information.
There might as well be two seperate committees.
My guess as to the source of this memo is Ben Nelson.

My guess as to the source of this memo is Ben Nelson. The opportunity to transmogrify Ben Nelson's name into Benedict Arnold is too obvious to disregard.

As Democrat Zel Miller said, the memo constitutes Treason. This is NOT going under the rug.

Rockefeller must resign off this committee.
The republican senators should view this as a wakeup call. The senate is officially not the gentile club that once existed decades ago. (if ever) The senate is filled with nasty democrats who will use your good manners to their advantage.
I have encountered the same behavior in court when opposing counsel attempts to abuse professional courtesy. Usually for the 6th excuse for a continuance or failure to produce on their part.
The senate has reached the end point. Time for blood. (figuratively, a resignation or two will suffice.)

The White House must immediately stop providing classified information to the Senate Intelligence Committee! They have shown that they cannot be trusted with National Security matters. This embargo must continue until such time as a thorough investigation has taken place and the perpetrators punished.

"As Democrat Zel Miller said, the memo constitutes Treason." Git a rope.

As Democrat Zel Miller said, the memo constitutes Treason. I've been looking at some of the "mainstream" press, and haven't seen ANYTHING about this episode.
Did Zell actually say this? Where can I reference it?
My admiration for Zell Miller goes up day by day.

I can't wait to hear Dan Rather, Peter Jennings, Tom Brokaw and Brian Williams report on this!

The fact that Rockefeller is on any committee with the term "Intelligence" attached to it is comical. He's about as intelligent as a box of rocks.

Saxby Chambliss was discussing the memo with Sean Hannity (radio) a few minutes ago. Saxby sounded like a wimp.

This memo should headline all evening news, but I am not holding my breath for ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, etc..
