I think people talk "big" all the time.....Many couldn't, nor wouldn't "walk that talk".

Now I also think if you choose to break up the argument in the way that you did...you end up instantly polarizing the anti's. And that was the basis of my reply to you.

"I'm all for immigration, it keeps us fresh with new hungry blood. But I'm also for the "American Melting Pot" as opposed to the "American Stew". I believe in diversity within a culture, not diversity of cultures. So I am for legal immigration, against illegal immigration, and am opposed to the extremists on both sides."

Basically I agree..........although I think that our naturalization and immigration laws are badly in need of reform. For instance..there is NO WAY in the world that we should allow that a baby born here is automatically a U.S. citizen.

I understand your concerns. Hopefully, you have nothing to worry about, but, I'd be worried a little also.

Just perfect. Do you happen to author those 'Ad Council' commercials we see on the tube?

I see in your Kumbaya world, no one's "right" or "wrong" except those nuts on the "fringe," OR folks who stand on principle

BTW, I'll bet your personal vehicle must be the color gray.

She is an "advisor." That means she can not do SQUAT except nag in Ahhnold's ear. If one were a Calguv and had to appoint a token liberal to some position, this would be it.

Thought he was going to get rid of that kind of waste in government?

Ummm, the "American Melting Pot" is not a new idea. The idea that as everybody comes into the country they add their own experiences and cultural identity to our common culture is the relative strength of our culture.

What the liberals have been pushing for several decades now is the "American Stew" idea, where everybody comes in and keeps their own culture and identity seperate from the common culture.

Sorry if you find the idea of a common culture built from the various cultures of our people so offensive. Think about that next time you have lasagna, or a burrito, or a bratwurst, or sesame chicken, or a gyro, or... Well, you get my point I hope. We have a common culture that has a lot of variation within it. Liberals wish for us to have a lot of independant cultures. The term "Balkanization" comes to mind.

But that's ok, anyone who disagrees with you earns your disdain. Whether they are friends with Ted Kennedy or point out a foolish statement of yours on the internet. Have fun!

Yes -- in theory incrementally the concept works....but NOT in blocs of hundreds of thousands of today's illegal AND legal immigrant who:

Carve out towns and counties in order to establish mini-"old countries"; Refuse to learn English; refuse to assimilate; reject the learning and respecting and history of America and her standing traditions; Understand the sacrifice in the name of freedom made by prior generations; and who believe America owes them a free ride.

IOW, for most of today's immigrants, America is nothing but a borderless economic vessel -- not a sovereign nation to be blended with as proud and true Americans.

We shouldn't personally demonize individuals just because they have different beliefs than us. That makes us no better than the DUhers who think all conservatives go to Klan rallies and beat their wives.
