I'm sure it will come as a shock to you, as well, that an honest-to-God pro-choicer is our Secretary of State. He even supports affirmative action. Another two pro-choicers heading up Homeland Security and the NSA. Bush even has a gay person or two on his staff. It's too bad that Alan Keyes or Gary Bauer weren't nominated in 2000. I notice nobody is talking about Marybel. Marybel was White House Coordinator for DoD for Weinberger and Frank Carlucci from the beginning of the Reagan years. Does that make her a conservative?? Nope.

I saw this up close.

Way back then, we Reaganites were shocked, flabbergasted that she would wind up in such a role perhaps low key, but pivotal in placing key appointments at DoD. She was pivotal in appointments and you may guess which way she leaned. That goes way back to the early '80's.

Seems to me that's a place she can do little or no harm.

That part is pure hyperbole. Had he appointed her to something substantial, I'd be concerned. But he didn't.
