Too bad we don't have a Patton or a MacArthur around anymore. What we need in Iraq and North Korea situations is either one of them. But wait, didn't MacArthur wanted to solve the NK problem 50 years ago....

This was a damn good read. Thanks for reminding us of military greatness.

"Discipline, pride, self-respect, self-confidence, and the love of glory are attributes which will make a man courageous even if he is afraid."
What? No government programs??
Hard to imagine losing any battle with men like that at the helm. Thanks for this post!

Some of my fav are
"A good plan violently executed now is better
than a perfect plan next week."
"The object of war is not to
die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his. ..."
"In case of doubt, attack."
"Say what you mean and mean what you say."

You know it. Subtracting Democrat Party traitorship from our recent history would result in a near-perfect world. We have to deal with today's traitors by first calling them what they are: Democrat shills of Communism. Nancy Pelosi, Ted Kennedy and RINO Orrin need to be served the first indigtments. That would allow the lesser guilty to clean up their respective houses for a cleaner system.

My father died two years ago yesterday. He had served in the Third Army General Hdqts as an electrician and saw Patton on a regular basis. When the movie came out in the early 70's, he loaded me in the car and we went to see it. He thought that Scott's portral of Patton was perfect caliming that, "Patton was just like that." I heard many stories of the war and his pride in serving in the Third and Patton's desire to push the Russians all the way back.

"Pacifists would do well to study the Siegfried and Maginot Lines, remembering that these defenses were forced; that Troy fell; that the walls of Hadrian succumbed; that the Great Wall of China was futile; and that, by the same token, the mighty seas which are alleged to defend us can also be circumvented by a resolute and ingenious opponent," admonished the general. "In war, the only sure defense is offense, and the efficiency of offense depends upon the warlike souls of those conducting it." We had best recognize this regarding Mexico and South American communists acting as Chinese proxies.

Good post, Joe. Thank you.
John Wayne said it well in 'Sands of Iwo Jima', "Courage is beidng scared to death, and saddling up anyway".
That being said, when it comes to a soldiers soldier and fighting General, none will ever surpass Chesty Puller. He personally engaged in over 120 close fire fights.
Find and read a copy of Chesty's book "MARINE".
