This was a fantastic article. I will seek out the books mentioned and cited. Always been a fan of Patton's exploits.

Best idea I came away with from this article was that Patton was a student of human nature. In all of my studies, the greatest leaders, warriors, business men, marketing geniuses, and authors studied human nature.

Inspiring article.

"In war, the only sure defense is offense, and the efficiency of offense depends upon the warlike souls of those conducting it."

This is why we took the war on terrorism to Afghanistan and Iraq and did not waste our time stationing multiple guards around every highway bridge and oil refinery in the U.S.

Ol' Patton was well tuned into reality. Our political leaders would do well to learn from him, but I won't be holding my breath.

I've read biographies of Patton that had less to say about this great man than I found in this article. Thanks.

I went directly over to Amazon where I purchased his autobiography and MacArthur's as well. From the brief excerpts on Amazon, you can see that both are excellent writers, concise, clear, interesting.

Yes, Patton and Lewis Puller were distant cousins; and both cut from the same cloth, obviously.

The Pullers, Pattons, and MacArthurs, etc, are now gone; but with us is what they all wished to prevent, but were stopped.

For those interested in further readings on Patton, there is an extensive Patton website at... HERE!!!!!

Patton was overrated. He achieved his successes against weaker and numerically inferior enemy forces. Forces with absolutely no air power to boot. Patton cannot be compared to the real genius commanders such as Eric von Manstein and Rommel. Nothing Patton ever did compares to Manstein retaking Kharkov in March 1943. That was the geatest military maneuver of WW2. Patton always had an abundance of riches at his disposal. What happened when he didn't? Well, he sat stalled on the French/German border going nowhere and achieving virtually nothing for almost 6 months. LOL.

Which Rommel was the genius, the one that got his ass kicked by Montgomery all the way across Africa or the one who didn't see the Normandy invasion coming and skipped town just as the party started?
