The three giant sunspots that caused so much space weather in recent weeks are now on the farside of the sun. There are hints that the three are still active. Witness these CMEs hurled over the sun's limb by farside explosions: Nov. 6th (pictured right), Nov. 7th, and Nov. 9th. Using a technique called helioseismic holography, researchers can "see" a portion of the sun's farside. In a few days their images should tell us if two of the sunspots (486 and 488) are indeed still big. The sun's 27-day rotation is carrying these spots back toward the Earth-facing side of the sun; they are due to re-appear on or about Nov. 20th.

The last sunspot to emit CME's was not aimed directly at the Earth. It was the most powerful, so far, and emitted most of it's energy as X-rays. This was a change from the previous two emanations.

We took a barely glancing blow from that. When it comes back around, if it is aimed directly at Earth and does the same thing, sayonara Dudes!

From what I understand, had it been directly beamed at Earth last time, the results could have been devastating.

And what happens if this occurs during Ramadan and the eclipses?

The theory, since we don't know for sure, is that it could have damaged more satellites, our Astronauts and others in the Space Station and the Russian space station could have been killed, and the Van Allen Radiation belts could have been compromised. No more protection from radiation , no life eventually on this planet.
