I can't take the credit....that belongs to my hubby. I think that the 1980 Olympics was a big boost for the moral of this country....that and Ronald Reagan.

"Good for Kurt Russell, a pro-American libertarian who once said he was "proud to call Newt Gingrich his friend."

OH YAY for him, I didn't know this. Hubby loves him. Excellent.

"Another thing that ain't gonna happen: a film about courageous American soldiers freeing children from one of Saddam's prisons."

Paul, don't lose hope, but they'd have to find a way to make it not gruesome, which, given your proposed subject matter would be difficult. Maybe the future "United Iraqi Artists Studios" could make that flick.

I was thinking that this'd make a great movie a few months ago, and a few days later I read that they were moving this idea forward. Now I wear tin foil hats.

BTW, I was born a long while after this, but it's still my favorite sports moment.

Oh yeah, brace yourself for the "Hollywood" version, where half the team is struggling with their "gay identity", the best player is a minority who can't play because of racist white hockey players who oppress him but he bravely supports the team from the sidelines, the courageous fatherly coach who has this "thing" for little Timmy, the waterboy, but it's really a beautiful story if you just understood his feelings and didn't judge him. The rest are evil capitalists who will stop at nothing to beat the humble, hard working Communist team...

I just hope someone HW creep doesn't steel this for a foundation story-line...

Is Kurt Russell playing Herb Brooks?
Someone will have to teach him how to speak Minnesotan.

That's it? That's their show of patriotism? Talk about low ratings!

I saw the original. It was very patriotic. It was like your highschool baseball team soundly beating the Yankees.

Another thing that ain't gonna happen: a film about courageous American soldiers freeing children from one of Saddam's prisons.

Well, it stars George Clooney, but "Three Kings" isn't far off from that plot.

Rush's guest host mentioned this morning that the Andy Griffith reunion special copped the highest ratings for the evening by far, I think 2-to-1. When will Hollywood get it? People are tired of mindless comedies and sleaze. Hello? Hello? Any of you bright Hollywood people listening? Do you get it yet?

Has Roger Ebert pulled his greasy face out of the popcorn bowl yet to completely trash it?

His step-daughter is Kate Hudson. The wife of "Black Crows" lead singer Chris Robinson.

Kate Hudson Explains Why the French Hate Americans
"Sometimes I'll be walking down the street and I'll hear some American and I'll just go, 'Of course they hate us, of course they can't stand us. We're the most annoying, boisterous creatures in the world.' I mean we come in and we eat mounds of food, and we're like, 'Where's the ketchup for our French fries.'
~~Kate Hudson

Notwithstanding, The Hudson Brothers program was one of my favorite TV shows on Saturday mornings when I was very young (70's). Their theme song was "Rockin' Robin".
Scooby Doo and Speed Racer. Love them!
Underdog was my most favorite.
I remember I was thrilled to recieve an Underdog coloring book! I was ill at the time [bronchitis]
Felix The Cat was my first memory of the boob tube.

St. Joseph's Asperin commercial was my first musical.

I still vividly recall goalie Jim Craig, with an American flag draped over his shoulders, looking into the stands immediately after the game ended yelling "Where's my father?" (Actually, it was "Wheyeh's mah fathah?") :-)

And Mike Eruzione's post-game interview where he said (and I'm paraphrasing) "This is the pinnacle. Nothing can beat this. I'm not playing hockey again." And he kept his word.

yes...Ms. Hudson is on our boycott list. Kurt Russell seems to be one of the more intelligent Hollywood celebs. He at least appears to like living in America. LOL
