Hillary to Troops: Support for War Fading

Moderator note: I know it's going to be tough, but, please watch the calls for violence against this creature.

In a demoralizing message to U.S. soldiers serving in Iraq, visiting New York Sen. Hillary Clinton told them that Americans back home are growing increasingly skeptical of President Bush's decision to send them into battle.

Describing two meetings with G.I.s over turkey dinners in Baghdad, Sen. Clinton told reporters later that soldiers wanted to know "how the people at home feel about what we are doing."

Clinton said she told the troops, "Americans are wholeheartedly proud of what you are doing but there are many questions at home about the (Bush) administration's policies."

She also suggested that the U.S. could eventually loose the war in Iraq, contending, "We have to exert all of our efforts militarily, but the outcome is not assured."

Despite her sour pronouncements, the former first lady insisted that the soldiers were just as glad to see her as they were President Bush, whose surprise visit less than 24-hours earlier was greeted with standing ovations.

"It's a positive for the commander-in-chief to visit troops in the field," Clinton told reporters, adding, "the troops [also] seemed to appreciate seeing myself."

Speaking from a secure location just over the Kuwaiti border, Mrs. Clinton launched one verbal salvo after another at the White House, arguing that Bush officials had been "obsessed" with getting Saddam Hussein and saying the perception blinded them to the difficulties of deposing his regime.

"The Pentagon tried to make do with as few troops as possible, as light a footprint as they could get away with," Clinton said. "Now, we're playing catchup . . . Unfortunately, I don't think they fully appreciated the conditions we would encounter."

The top Democrat also reprised her charge that the White House is being less than candid when it comes to apprising the American people of the costs of the war.

"The obstacles and problems here are much greater than the administration usually admits to," she said, adding, "Everybody has to be honest."

I just naturally assumed the reason she sought out the black soldiers was to make for better photos on her campaign lit. Diversity, you know.

This has been a good thread. Fired me up to the point that I have already sent off three letters and am working on one for my local paper.

The more I think about this, the more I'm sure nothing will be done.

I bet she could have been even more obscenely negative toward our troops and their mission. I bet she could have openly called for revolution against Bush and nothing would be done.

She enjoys the protection the Democrats in the House and Senate have. They can say anything, anything at all, and nothing. will. be. done.

And should we even seriously TRY to get something done, we are no better than McCarthyites...we are Ashcroftians, repressing the freedom of speech of the opposition, and blah blah blah.

(Because they've forgotten 9/11. They've forgotten why we did all of this. And they think this is Just Another Political Issue.)

Yeah...I wonder how many breakfast cereal box tops he had to save to get all those?

hitlery gets away with all of this because the US Attorney General
refuses to honor his oath of office.

This is not the time to be quiet about it. I moved my husbands family from Democrat to Repbulican and it took being the black sheep of the family for a few years. Pointing out the damage liberals do, predicting and being right about where their destruction would lead, awakening their moral judgment.

The only hold out was his brother and sis in law, die hard democrats. We ended up not speaking for about five years. It took both brothers facing death while each faced down cancer to somewhat heal the wounds.

For me there is no middle ground in my Chritianity, my principles, or my politics, and I'm not shy about asking others to choose a side and act on it.

Half of the country is already convinced that Ashcroft has already taken away their freedom of speech, their freedom to look at porn, their freedom to have sex, their freedom to commit suicide....

I KNOW because I read websites (like Fark.com) where that is accepted FACT. While they are discussing this, they are also discussing their political opinions (freely, and in terms like those the admin moderators have been censoring here)--their porn, their sex lives, and such things as assisted suicide....

True! Just look at the pictures...Pictures DON'T lie!

The troops surrounding Bush look positively thrilled. The troops around her look no more thrilled than they would in a cow pasture.

Was Hillary cheered by the troops? Did she tell them that she was once a "Goldwater girl"?

Does that about cover the waterfront?

Whatever it didn't cover will be consumed by an ever increasing saliva tsunami. ;)
