[ Do you give money to these PBS scuts (Self-Congratulatory, Unreconstructed Trashbrained Socialists) during these pledge breaks? Do you vote for politicians like Oregon’s Ron Wyden, who lead the congressional effort to take money from your wallet and stuff it in PBS pockets?
For shame. ]

I heard that!.... needed to said,,, over and over..

I'd rather stick to local places and of course the Salvation Army.

That's my thinking, too, snippy. The more local, the more personally involved we are in giving to charity, the more we benefit spiritually and the more those who are helped receive the added benefit of knowing people, individuals, care about them and so are encouraged. Separating the giver and receiver with well-paid, massive charity bureaucracies, diminishes the value of the gift and does not affirm the value of the person receiving it.

"Charity does not start with the government" Said by Me.

And a very wise statement that is!

Somebody please send this nitwit the "Money" Soliloquy by Ayn Rand from "Atlas Shrugged" I think it was a whole chapter spoken by Francisco D'Ancona (Sp?) but it summed up the value and righteous worth of money.

Also a copy of the Wealth of Nations would not be bad either to sent.

What is wrong with being RICH? My goal is to be richer than a quadruple fudge brownie - and I have no qualms about it. I have just one question for the "rich bashers" out there.....when was the last time a poor person offered you a job?

The Democrats have been making it clear that huge percentages of unemployment are just what they want.....they want us all dependent on government hand-outs. They don't WANT you to get rich! But I certainly hope you get rich and need to employ LOTS of folks!

"PBS is a collection of wireless socialist morons with delusions of philosophical grandeur, greedy fingered slavering redistributionist tree-dwelling hominids who believe that if they don’t control all the money, all the money isn’t being controlled properly...."

I love it ~ Wow ~ he sure has PBS and the rest of the lunatic left pegged!

Thank you WaterDragon. I certainly hope that I get rich too! I also give a big salute to all of the wealthy out there. You know what the wealthy does with their huge piles of cash? They spend it on "stuff" (that's good for America), they invest it building their companies (that's good for America), they put it in the bank (that's good for America - hey that's more for the bank to loan to everyone else). Contrast that with what the Government does with their (our) huge piles of cash - they collect $10 blow $8 and spend the other $2 buying votes. That's decidedly BAD for America. Of course, I don't have to tell you that. It's so perplexing to me - why would ANYONE want to bring down companies and make America into the Soviet Union II ?

Because they get to be part of the ruling class, something that would never happen for them under a capitalist meritocracy.

Where did this lengthy quote come from?

BTW, I agree with it, COMPLETELY.

Every time some "charity" asks me for a donation (with the exception of FR), I always give the same answer:

"I've already donated to a charity- I pay taxes."

"Where did this lengthy quote come from?"

Atlas Shrugged, by Ayn Rand.

Btw, I recommend reading her earlier novel, The Fountainhead first.

I read them when I was 14 and they changed my life.

Seriously. For the first time I realized that there were people in this world who believed as I did--in merit, achievement, individuality, capitalism, freedom. The effect on this 14-year-old was overwhelming. My sister had read The Fountainhead and gave it to me, remarking, "Here's an interesting novel."

She was unaffected; for me the Heavens opened and angels began playing Bach.
