More than 2500 MoveOn-sponsored "Bush-Bashing" House Parties are being held around the country. From their website:
"On the evening of December 7th, 2003, thousands of people around the country will gather to watch and discuss the new documentary Uncovered: The Whole Truth about the Iraq War. Together, we'll strengthen the MoveOn community, get the truth out, and raise some money to make sure that people in key battleground states know the real story about how we went to war."

The House Parties (see MoveOn dot-org website for more details) will be followed by a nationwide "Bush-Bashing" conference call at 5:30 PST/8:30 EST. I have signed up to "host" a bogus party so I can join the call as a "Bush-Backer."
Here's the toll-free phone number: 866-254-5947. But you'll also need an access code. If I give mine now, they'll be able to de-activate it, so I'll give it out on this thread at 5:29 PST/8:29 EST
Here are 3 ways YOU can have fun undermining this effort to Bash Bush:
1. Sign up to host your own bogus party at a bogus location, so you can have your own access code.
2. Sign up to infiltrate a party in your area.
3. Sign up at a party and contact the coordinator to say you can't make it in person, could you please get their ACCESS CODE for the conference call.

This has the makings of the famous Al Gore conference call! BTW, if you post the number, they may be able to deactivate it pretty close to instantly. Maybe PM everyone instead?

And don't give it to anyone who isn't a longtime Freeper in good standing and well-known to all.

Good point - what's the best way to do that?

Click "private reply" to someone, and then add in whoever you want. (Like Timesink mentioned, it's probably not a good idea to PM people who signed up today. :)

Thanks - will do!

The FBI will enjoy this and will be listening in, so have fun.

A local Republican Party operative has been punished pretty severely for doing something like this. Now it was a more confidential sort of call, involving legal advice or strategy, but I would recommend against doing anything that a clever Democrat activist lawyer could twist to use to make your life a living hell.

Well, this reveals the serious downside to internet organizing. It becomes very easy for the other side to know when/where/who/what. While it's my personal opinion that a diversity of opinion is good, even at a sponsored meeting, I can only imagine that traditional political organizers will see things differently.
This sort of event certainly will change the grassroots political landscape, but I get the impression that noone has fully realized how complete that change will be.

I was just thinking about this: They can't be having umpteen thousand people all talking on a conference call at once. Are you sure this phone line isn't one-way? Or that only those with "super-special" access codes will actually be able to speak?
(I also notice that their site's "search for parties within X miles of your zip code" doesn't work properly. Figures.)

Don't worry, they won't be happening here in the northeast. We are all very very snowed in.

"On the evening of December 7th, 2003".........I wonder if these nitwits realize (or care) that that is the date in 1941 that Pearl Harbor was attacked.....the "day in infamy". I remember it well, from the radio news reports, as a 10 year old.

Especially since when you call an 1-800 number, they have a record of the number from which you dialed.

I found it. *67 will block caller ID.
