Republican presidential nominees 2008

Posted on 12/19/2003 2:58:48 AM PST by Reader of news

I think President Bush will be re-elected next year surely. Nevertheless, there is not any sure candidate for Republican presidential nomination in 2008. I think John McCain, Jeb Bush, Rick Perry, Condoleezza Rice, George Pataki and Bill Frist may be candidates.

To be more specific, he was mayor of Minnesota, Iowa.

Right. There's no mayor of the state of Minnesota! At least I don't think so! :P

Ridge is a pathetic excuse for a politician. I don't think he has any sort of realistic shot as a Presidential contender because his record (so far) as the head of Homeland Security is deplorable. He has steadfastly refused to take any proactive or meaningful measures to secure our borders. One would think that as the head of HOMELAND SECURITY, that would be kind of a no-brainer. Apparently, in Ridge's case, that would be incorrect.

IMO, Ridge is a non-starter.

You want Rudy? What are you all crazy?!? The guy is a total RINO! Pro-abortion, super anti-gun. So he said a few choice words and made some appearances after 9/11. If this is were this party is headed, so long! He is way to the left of JFK.

Bill Frist is Dubya's hand picked successor, IMO. How else would a man with so little seniority in the Senate get to majority leader? Dubya wanted him. They are pals.

Nix to Ridge and Giuliani because they are pro-choice and a pro-choicer will NEVER be a GOP nominee for president. That's the way it is.

Nix to Condi Rice. She has never run for elected office.

Nix to Jeb Bush, because he has said he doesn't want the job.

Frist, although I'm not wild about him, has the right kind of persona to appeal to the middle of the roaders and the right credentials to win him support among the most conservative wing. Being a doctor, he speaks with authority on one of the leading issues of the day--health care.

The south has to be rewarded for their undying, loyal support for Dubya and other conservatives. The nominee will come from the south--the solidest of the Red Zones.

1. Why is he gov. of Colorado when it appears he is from Texas?

2. I always hear weird things coming from Colorado making me think it is a fairly liberal state. Is that based on things other than the current Gov?

"John McCain, Jeb Bush, Rick Perry, Condoleezza Rice, George Pataki and Bill Frist may be candidates."

John McCain - anti-gun, one of the founders of McCain-Feingold Campaign Reform which violates the First Amendment

Jeb Bush - I think Jeb is pro-illegal aliens, like his brother apparently is.

Rick Perry - ??????

Condolezza Rice - Probably the best of the pack, and the
best to run against Hildebeast.

George Pataki - Eastern RINO

Bill Frist - ineffectual RINO

Rudy Giuliani - A slimy fascist. He's anti-gun, and pro-homosexual. An archetypical RINO. The only psotive part of his background is he's strong on law and order - too strong. Civil liberties are not something he appreciates, unless they are civil liberties for illegal aliens (like his predecessors and successor in the Rotten Apple, he directed his law-enforcement people not to cooperate with INS in apprehending illegal invaders.)

Correction: My Grandma is Bill Owens' Great Aunt.

No matter. He's a resolute, honest man and a world class professional politician and LEADER.

It'll be interesting to see what the GOP does with the '08 program. If they don't throw Condi into the VP slot, then one of the talented young GOP Governors is primed for successs. The Party "establishment" like Owens A WHOLE LOT. I know that, everyone is afraid of a Bush backlash should Jeb run. Billy is a star.

Governors go to the Oval Office. That's history.

He's from Colorado. He went to school in Texas. Got his M.A. in Public Affairs at University of Texas.

2. I always hear weird things coming from Colorado making me think it is a fairly liberal state. Is that based on things other than the current Gov?

Clearly based on other things than Owens. He has a very conservative record. See previous posts, above.

You LIKE Rudy???

Don't be fooled by his 9-1-1 psoture. 9-1-1 was one fo the best things to happen to him. His popularity was at an all time low. And after wall, who could come across better in such a situation than a fascistic ex- Attorney General.

Rudy Giuliani supports National Gun Registration, and a nation qualifying test for all gun owners. He doesn't believe in the Second Amendment.

Rudy Giuliani appeared in drag in a homosexual event, and marched in a Gay Pride parade.

Rudy Giuliani refused to supprt either Pataki or Chrissie Whitman when they ran for governors of thier states. Appraently he felt the "Republican" label was offensive even though both of them are RINOs.

Rudy Giuliani helped Clinton campaign across the country for his "crime bill" an anti-gun piece of legislation.

Rudy Giuliani, like other mayors in New York, directed his law enforcement people not to cooperate with INS in apprehending illegal aliens - and New York has a SEA of them.

Rudy stinks. I would never give that RINO MY vote.

Easy mistake. To be honest, the Dakotas and Iowa don't deserve statehood. When the pigs and prairie dogs not only outpopulate the humans, but also have higher IQs ... we need a revisitation of their standing.

Tancredo would make a great president. But he would be combatting the big business interests which rely on illegals for cheap labor.

2008 will be the first time we elect a woman or a minority...potentially both. I would bet we're looking at a definite Clinton candidacy versus a female GOP-er...I just don't know who.

With a Bush win in '04, which isn't yet certain (I predict Dean will start to fade and Gephardt and Clark will battle for the new lead), I expect us to see some new blood starting to get airtime...thus exposure in the lead up to 2008.

I would love Jeb Bush but the American public just won't have it happen....too many Bush names make folks uncomfortable.

Wait a minute, I'll provide the babblefish mystical code translation for you ...

T = G. A = E. N = P. C = H. R = A. E = R D EQUALS D!! O = T.

Tancredo = Gephardt.

You damn lefty Democrat liars.

Sitting here in 2003 is way too early to predict 2008.

Agree, but Bush had the advantage of name recognition. I hope the GOP starts thinking soon about who will lead the party post Bush. I would hate to see a vacuum in light of the probable challenge of Hillary. She would be a disaster for this country. The GOP needs a strong candidate for 2008 regardless of what happens in 2004.

Tancredo equals Gephardt???

I don't get it. I thought Tancredo was a conservative Republican from Colorado who has been fighting illegal aliens and large scale invasions into this country. I heard Karl ROve banned him from the White Hosue for this, and was planning to run a RINO against him in the primary.
