Cable news talker Bill O'Reilly's latest book, "Who's Looking Out for You?" is on top of the New York Times nonfiction bestseller list -- hitting the #1 spot during the prime Christmas book buying season. O'Reilly's book has leapt ahead of screeds by left-wing bomb-throwers Al Franken and Michael Moore. The Fox News host's return to the top of the heap comes as "Living History," the Hillary Clinton memoir that O'Reilly has vowed to outsell, is nowhere to be found on the printed Times list. Mrs. Clinton's book, which was expected to be a big holiday seller, has even disappeared from the extended list of the nation's 35 top selling books that the Times posts online. On Amazon.com, "History" continues to sell relatively well, with the former first lady coming in Sunday at number 56. But even there, O'Reilly's book is selling at a much brisker pace, with "Who's Looking" turning up in the number 11 slot. While Clinton's publisher Simon & Schuster says she has sold 1.5 million copies, reports suggest that figure may be inflated by as much as 30 percent. And while O'Reilly still has a lot of ground to cover before he catches the top Democrat, his return to the top of the Times list suggests he may yet reach his goal. Clinton's book has been in stores since June 9, and in the ensuing 28 weeks she has devoted considerable time to nearly 40 book signings. "Who's Looking" debuted 13 weeks ago. Earlier this month O'Reilly told his radio audience has had time for only two book signings. O'Reilly's publisher Random House told the Washington Post on Saturday that "Who's Looking" is in its sixth printing, with nearly one million copies shipped to bookstores.
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my FoxFan list. *Warning: This can be a high-volume ping list at times.
It has not disappeared entirely of course; you can find her book, piled up in the corners of the discount 'overage' book stores. . .
And for a couple of bucks. . .
Well, let me just say, it is cheaper than firewood.
Do not think O'Reilly stupid enough to do that; he would be definitely 'called' on it.
Could be Drudge did him a big favor; reminded people of that last Christmas gift on their list.
Maybe even a 'sympathy' purchase. . .or just maybe, O'Reilly was right.
I like O'Reilly. He at least is not a wimp and goes after guys such as Rev. Jesse J. and the corrupt lawyer Feldman (who accused innocent people when he knew his client Westerfield was guilty of the most horrible crime).
O'Reilly speaking out against ACLU and pedophiles has made a number of people angry.
There are times I disagree with him. Mainly I watch his show because he is interesting. Also, he is not concerned with PC, does not have Paula Zahn's "deer in the headlights" stare, Dan Abrams' smarmyness, and Katie Couric's perkiness.
For sure; and then of course, there is 'alfrankenstein' himself.
Agree with your reasons 'for' O'Reilly.
He makes me a little crazy as he does have some major blindspots when it comes to Liberals - my recollection is that in his prior books; while addressing the pathology; he never uses the actual agents (Liberals!) of that pathology by name.
He does call the 'facts of the matter'; just not inclined to address the 'Lib itself' MO as the heart of the matter. . .so to speak.
