We subscribe to a market-information service at work. Here's what came up in the past few minutes:
Speculation that LaGuardia airport is being evacuated No verification on this rumor, which has taken the major averages off their highs. Activity on the conjecture front is likely to increase in the wake of the raised terror alert and light newsflow. Dow +11.49 points; S&P +1.02; Nasdaq +2.08
Just wondered if anyone knew more? Probably false, but wondered if anything on ny news about this.

Maybe they're evacuating the ENTIRE Eastern seabord. I bet that volcano in the Canary Islands finally let loose the 1000 foot killer sunami.

Considering what we as a people (and as passengers) know about what a hijacker is capable of doing, I truly believe anyone making such an attempt is going to find himself facing a crowd of passengers who would rush him. Using laptops, carryon bags, and seat cushions we'd corner him and incapacitate him. NOBOBY better try to get between me and my visit home this year.

In Breaking News by abnegation:
A man carrying a razor blade and a hacksaw blade in his shoe was arrested at Miami International Airport as he tried to pass through security checks Monday, Miami-Dade police said.
David McIntyre, 38, from Westchester, Pa., was charged with carrying a concealed weapon.
Alarms sounded when McIntyre tried to pass through an airport metal detector at about 6:20 a.m. Airport screeners asked him to remove his shoes and found the blades, officials said.
McIntyre, who was traveling with his wife and children, told authorities he forgot the blades were in his shoe, said Detective Joey Giordano, a spokesman for the Miami-Dade police. It was not known if McIntyre has an attorney.
There was a greater law enforcement presence in the airport given the holiday travel rush, and the Department of Homeland Security's decision to raise the national threat level.

He had several weapons in his shoe? Razor blade was one of them. Was it Lee Roy Brown? If so, have them check his pocket for a .32 gun.

"Fox just reported that some idiot at the Miami airport was (traveling with his family no less) was caught with a razor knife and hack saw blade in his shoe."
Odds are he was going to try to sell his story to the Enquirer.

We had a good rally going, and the short sellers create another non news item like ABC did last Friday.
SEC should investigate those who holler wolf/terrorism and see if they are shorting stocks and hiring people to be stringers to get the word out.
This bs is the only way those who hate our nation and President Bush can stop the stock market.

Actually, some scumbag probably heard that a Canary on the Canary Islands passed gas. So, they are spreading the word that the East Coast is under danger of a WMD attack from dangerous Canary Gas being emitted on the Canary Islands.

Thanks for posting. There are always those with their showers and tinfoil ready to blast everyone, but some of us want to know what is going on. FR has been the first to report many stories, even before cable news. You never know what small item may be the beginning of a news story.
