"Most folks would be better off welcoming his message into their hearts rather than waiting for him to show up in their neighborhoods."

Unless we're being unadvisedly selective about His teachings (that is to say, those of Faith should embrace all of His perfect Word), we should welcome His message into our hearts and fervently anticipate His promised lifting out (Rapture) of the church.

IMHO

Re:"Yes, because before the 1960s men never exhibited any of these traits. We were all saints up until recently." Let me guess you failed World History!

If people don't believe that the world will end, they need to be cautioned.

That suggests that people are too dumb to realize that, end of the world or not, THEY ARE GOING TO DIE. Just about everyone who's ever lived has died (exceptions for Enoch, Elijah, and people still alive, but a day older, today :-), but the end of the world has never happened.

To me, the first fact is a much greater motivator. DEATH, folks -- YOURS. There's no avoiding your physical death; aren't you interested in escaping spiritual death? (hypothetical question, not aimed anywhere in particular)

Ah, but if the long haired, unemployed man with a only the clothes on his back asked you to sell all of your possessions and give to the poor then join him would you?

I asked a rather simple question and some the the replies have been much more than I had expected and most impressive.

A bastard child of a Jewish carpenter was born in squalid poverty around 2,000 years ago, and it changed the world forever.

Christmas is a time of celebration, joy and sharing of love. It is also a time to contemplate a few lessons we rarely hear talked about.

If Jesus was born in Bethlehem today, under similar financial, racial, marital and educational conditions, would we recognize him for what he is?

As I contemplate this holiday, I realize how special the people surrounding him at the time of his birth truly were.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

When Christ returns to the holy land He's not going to be asking "please"! He asked politely once before and was nailed to a cross. He comes next with an army and a sword!

Nope, just ahead of his time.

To me, that sounds like our world today.

Or the world at the end of the Roman Empire, during the Dark Ages or in the Rennaissance (especially the latter). Bubba, you're goin' to have to do better than that...

No... but clearly Joseph Farah did if he believes there is something different about Man today compared to any other point in history.

WorldNetDaily is certainly ... um ...

It certainly is. Probably FreeRepublic sees just the oddball articles; there are probably many other, insightful articles since some of our favorite radio personalities also claim to write for this group. Based on the articles seen here, one might hesitate to publicly claim he writes for this. Still it is head and shoulders above DEBKA.

Jesus will return while I'm in the shower, if the past is any indication.

You think the idea that individual responsiblity is not important? With freedom comes responsiblity. What does it add to the discourse when people on this forum look for deeply held beliefs and mock them just for the sake of mocking them?

Nothing in the Constitution or the traditions of America says, "Americans will never be rude or derogatory to one another."

There is plenty in the traditions of America and the founding fathers that says behaving in a civil manner to your fellow citizens is worthwhile. Let me quote you some finer points of behavior from General Washington's own hand:

1st Every Action done in Company, ought to be with Some Sign of Respect, to those that are Present.

4]7th Mock not nor Jest at any thing of Importance break [n]o Jest that are Sharp Biting and if you Deliver any thing witty and Pleasent abtain from Laughing thereat yourself.

Let your Conversation be without Malice or Envy, for 'tis a Sig[n o]f a Tractable and Commendable Nature: And in all Causes of Passion [ad]mit Reason to Govern.

[87th Let thy carriage be such] as becomes a Man Grave Settled and attentive [to that which is spoken. Contra]dict not at every turn what others Say.

When you Speak of God or his Atributes, let it be Seriously & [wt.] Reverence. Honour & Obey your Natural Parents altho they be Poor.

109th Let your Recreations be Manfull not Sinfull.

110th Labour to keep alive in your Breast that Little Spark of Ce[les]tial fire Called Conscience.

Liberals made that up

Ever read the writings of George Washington, James Monroe, Benjamin Franklin, etc. etc. etc.?

Do you consider them liberals, or are you just name calling?
