Howard Dean Gets Religion

Presidential candidate Howard B. Dean has described himself in a recent interview with the Bosten Globe as a committed believer in Jesus Christ, noting that he will include more references to Jesus and God in his upcoming stump speeches.

According to the Globe report, Dean is a Congregationalist, whose wife and children are Jewish.

"Christ was someone who sought out people who were disenfranchised, people who were left behind," Dean told the Globe. "He fought against self-righteousness of people who had everything . . . He was a person who set an extraordinary example that has lasted 2000 years, which is pretty inspiring when you think about it."

Perhaps indicative of Dean's new emphasis, said the Globe report, was an appearance at an African-American church in Columbia, S.C. --

"In this house of the Lord, we know that the power rests in God's hands and in Jesus's hands for helping us. But the power also is on this, God's earth -- Remember Jesus said, `Render unto God those things that are God's but unto Caesar those things that are Caesar's.'"

Dean continued, "In this political season there is also other power. Not as important or as strong as the power of Jesus but it's important power in the world of politics and the world of Caesar."

Dean told the Globe that religion was a private matter for him while growing up:

"My father used to tell us how much strength he got from religion, but we didn't have Bible readings. There are traditions where people do that. We didn't," he said. "People in the Northeast don't talk about their religion. It's a very personal private matter, and that's the tradition I was brought up in."

Dean added, "I don't get offended when George Bush or Joe Lieberman talk about their religion . . . I have a feeling it has something to do with them as a human being, and they are entitled to talk about what makes them human."

People in the Northeast don't talk about their religion.

Is it PC to stereotype people like this?

Does that mean Dean is also opposing abortion, the number one cause of the Left Wing Socialist Democrat Party? What is he going to say to the Dem's lawyers, the ACLU?

That's what Dean thinks about himself. Delusional and Messianic, no wonder the Techno-RATS are supporting him.

howard dean can get any kind of religion he wants that will get him the most votes, but getting religion will NOT get him to Heaven. What he needs to get is a relationship with JESUS CHRIST, get to know him and believe in the death and resurrection that will save him and give him everlasting life. Once he recieves Jesus as his SAVIOR he then may get why ABORTION is not what Jesus would choose regardless of what anyone else thinks.

Howie has a pretty good understanding of this "religion" stuff. He has figured out "it has something to do with them as a human being."

That's like someone saying, "I should be a doctor. I understand that medicine has something to do with being healthy."

His understanding of religion sounds like Jethro Bodine's understanding of "brain surgury."

He has a "special" kind of religion that's OK with the mass slaughter of innocent children...

LOL. And Dean's understanding of Foreign relations hinges on Jethro Bodeine's school of "Double-ought" spying.

...Remember Jesus said, `Render unto God those things that are God's but unto Caesar those things that are Caesar's.'"

Jesus was talking about paying your taxes. I bet Howard Dean was talking about the SAME thing...

This guy does pander, doesn't he?

i can't wait till he gets asked questions about his flip-flops or his sealed records.
The veins will pop in his neck & forhead, he'll scream and shout and cast aspersions on the questioner...then the questioner should be asking how this behavior fits in with his newfound religeous experience.

"Double-ought" spying

I hate to nit-pick...(actually, that's not true), but it was "double-naught" spying...

"People in the Northeast don't talk about their religion. It's a very personal private matter, and that's the tradition I was brought up in."

People kept their religion private in most of the United States, and certainly in national politics whenever they could till that fool Jimmy Carter started babbling about being "born again".

Yes, I know JFK had to speak on the "Catholic Issue" but that was a matter of necessity, not a choice, and once elected he stopped blabbering about it.

"Howard Dean described himself as a committed believer in Jesus Christ...."

Really.

The demons also believe, and tremble(James 2:19).

And I in turn hate to nit-pick, but it was **usually** ''naught-naught''. You doubtless recall Elly May's ragging on Jethro on one occasion as ''nut-nut''. Jethro typically used ''double-naught'' as a noun, as in, ''Uncle Jed, I'm gonna be a double-naught.'', rather than as an adjective.

Best of the New Year to you!

A huge chunk of Dean supporters in paricular, and Dems in general, abhor relegion. Most certainly eschew it (except for those paying lipservice to it.)

Proud atheists or agnostics, many.

These are the people who sneered at their parents' faith, who ridicule Christians and Jews for their faith in God, who laugh at God's people because they don't buy into the liberal litany of faith: evolution, global warming, collective egalitarianism.

They simply look down their noses at people who would believe in God and the Bible.

It would be at least embarassing to them for their friends to know that their candidate believes in God and the Bible (not that I believe Dean is for a nanosecond sincere in anyway about this.)

People in the Northeast don't talk about their religion.

Great Steve Taylor lyrics on the exact topic...

It's A Personal Thing

The press conference
It's a personal thing, and I find it odd
you would question my believing in a personal God
I'm devout, I'm sincere, ask my mother if you doubt it
I'm religious, but I'd rather not get radical about it
the old-time believers had timidity and grace
but this new generation doesn't know its place
you're entitled to believe, but the latest Gallup Poll
says you mustn't interfere--that's the government's role

chorus:
'Cause when you throw your hat in the bullring
before you know it's a personal thing
and when he comes to the day of reckoning
he's gonna tell 'em, "uh, uh, uh, it's a personal thing"

The nomination speech
It's a personal thing, and I boldly state
that my views on morality will have to wait
'til my personal life's out of the public eye
and the limitations statue can protect my alibi
I'm devout, I'm sincere, and I'm proud to say
that it's had exactly no effect on who I am today
I believe for the benefit for all manking
in the total separation of church and mind

(chorus)

The victory night
It's a personal thing, and I plainly speak
(from the same code of ethics that I held last week)
as I promised if elected this election day
with the help of God almight...I'll do it my way
