A friend calls lotterys "a tax on the mathematically challenged". That having been said, I already have my tickets for Wednesdays drawing.

The other multi state lottery has a $150 million one on Tuesday. I can't help but throw a few bucks at them when they get that high.

I bought $2 worth for each yesterday. I won $4 last night in the Powerball, so I guess I will re-invest!

"you can't win, if you don't have a ticket!"

NO, your chances of winning the big one are only slightly enhanced by buying a ticket. Still, lightning has to strike somewhere.

I read that you stand a better chance of being hit by lightning twice in a single year, than winning the powerball.

I've always called it "a tax on the willing" or "a voluntary tax."

I'think I'll get some tickets--only 30 minutes away.

I agree about the chnces, but I throw away a whole lot more at MickeyD's, than on lottery tickets. $2 is less than pocket change, and I usually only play when it gets BIG, because... "you can't win, if you don't have a ticket!"

Its'"for the chil'run"!!! (LOL)

Once, I went to a neighboring state to buy powerball tickets for a $150 million draw, I got 40, $5 tickets ($200) total. I went to the local pub and people were standing in line to buy them from me. The prize was won, (not by anybody in the pub).

Following draw, I again got 20 each $5.00 for a $10 million draw, and could not sell one of them. I found it amazing that people wouldn't put $5.00 out for a $10 million prize, but would mortgage the farm for the possibility of winning $150 million when the odds were exactly the same.

I get my tickets five blocks away. I spend a whoppin' $2 when it's over $100,000,000.

My hubby sniffs and says, "it's like throwing money down the toilet." I said, "well, if I win, I know you won't want any of the money." He said, "Not so fast--this is a community property state. I get half."

Yeh, that's what I used to think (for the schools) until I saw the cut the panel of lawyers(Lottery Commission) get from running the thing.

They do a great job of promoting it tho, few stop to think that $200 mil turns into $70 or so after lump sum and tax deductions are taken out. Oh well, still better than a McJob.

Amazing how 10 mil can actually look like chump change. Compared to any of our salaries, it's a "Major Award!"

A woman comes home one night and shouts up the stairs to her husband:

"Pack your bags, I've won the lottery!"

Her husband replies:

"Should I pack for sun or snow?"

The woman shouts:

"I don't care, I've won the lottery now get out!!!"

It's not really that.

States take the lottery money and give it to the schools first, then lower the amount they allocate for schools from the general fund by that amount.

Just think of it as going into the general fund.

LOL!

I wouldn't toss him out, but I'd buy a much bigger house--with his workshop out of earshot (I'm thinking about a mile or so away). There's nothing like settling down for a long winter's freep & have a table saw fire up directly underneath me.

I have to go out of state to get Powerball tickets.

When you win, give your husband half--minus $1. LOL!

Hmmm, $70,000,000 invested at 5% (not hard to do) yields about $3,5000,000 per year, without touching the principal.

How shall I live, on such paultry sum?? I guess I will only be able to afford the Citation V, instead of the Gulfstream... to roam about the world!

Here's a pre-owned one, that I may play with: http://www.cessnapreowned.com/DisplayAircraft.asp?aid=70&PageFrom=

And he'd say, "I put gas in the car (and he always does)...then there's insurance, maintenance and depreciation," and he'd bill me about $20. He's just kind of guy :-))

I haven't checked Saturday's numbers yet. I could be a thousandaire. Or not.
