DON'T SHOP DAY!!! (In protest of the upcoming Bush Amnesty)
Grassroots Effort ^ | American Patrol

Posted on 12/30/2003 10:55:22 AM PST by libertylass

"DON¹T SHOP DAY" IS CATCHING ON!! COMING TO TV!!

A major TV media outlet will do a story on the January 12th -- "Don¹t Shop Day." They have asked for an interview tomorrow!!! SEE http://tinyurl.com/3h5gn

WE NEED TALK RADIO TO DISCUSS THIS ACTION! We need you to call those talk shows!

Remember these talking points:

WHY?

A. Bush political advisors tell him voters have NO PLACE TO GO to protest his amnesty plans since all the Democrat candidates support amnesty. (See: http://www.washtimes.com/national/20030906-120054-6125r.htm)

HOW?

B. Since they think we have NO PLACE TO GO, we should let them know what they are up to by GOING NO PLACE on January 12, 2004, the first day of Bush¹s visit with Mexican President Fox in Mexico City. In other words, don¹t shop, don't go to movies, etc. Stay at home!

NO ONE IS HURT--

C. This is not a boycott. There will be no real economic damage to anyone, just a demonstration of our ability to protest. It's a win-win situation!

THERE IS NO SPONSOR--

D. While American Patrol is supporting this effort, there is no official sponsor. It is a true grassroots effort.

WHAT AMERICANS ARE SAYING:

Here is just some of the email feedback:

+++++++++++++++++++++ Everyone is really getting the word out. I think it's going to have a big impact. -- Along the same lines I think we should add: Make No Bank Deposits that day. Do not pay any bills (from the 9th-12th), and no online shopping either. -- Sincerely, Shanna in Arizona +++++++++++++++++++++++++ I did a search for historical events for the days between now and Jan.12th when President Bush will meet with President Fox, and the day when hundreds of thousands of Americans will not do ANY shopping. Tomorrow is the anniversary of the Pledge of Allegiance.

Tuesday is the anniversary of the U.S.- Mexico border. Wednesday is the anniversary of the opening of Ellis Island. We will add another day: January 12, 2004 - the American people protested illegal immigration with their pocketbook. Barbara V. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The no shop day on 1/12/04 could stop Bush dead in his amnesty tracks if it catches on, and I very much think it will. My friends and family are spreading the word fast. The media is always writing about the great economic clout of the Latino lobby to make driver's licenses and Latino benefits happen. This could be a demonstration of REAL economic power that could upstage Bush/Fox in Monterrey Mexico on 1/12/04. This Bush-amnesty counter-measure is a brilliant idea. Suddenly we don't have to be observers watching our citizenship, sovereignty, and laws being thrown away. L.B., Riverside, CA ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Not trying to be a donkey brain, but will it really be noticeable?

A LOT more noticable then a few dozen illegal aliens keeping their kids out of school was on 12/12...

There will be no "amnesty" they are attempting to set up some guest worker BS that will then lead to the illegals getting citizenship.

My arguement is rewarding criminal invaders with things that they do not deserve as in A.) any type of legal status and B.) eventual citizenship.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll be sure to buy something on Jan. 12th.

There is a whole lot of BS and flat out lies being thrown around right now by the Tancredo-ites about immigration. One poster here spams every thread with baloney about how illegal immigration caused the problem(I think he even blamed mad cow disease on Mexican immigrants). Little different than the DU types who blame everything on Bush.

Don't get me wrong, I believe illegal immigration and its effects are a big problem, that must be addressed. But some of the Tancredo-ites are extremely counter productive.

What proof does has the media shown that the Bush Administration even has an Amnesty plan?

Good point. The Bushies know how unpopular such a move would be. I think people are worked up over nothing on this issue.

Bush wants to grant amnesty to over 8 million illegal aliens in this country. This is not just some simple plan to legitimize migrant workers to come into the country and then leave once the work is completed.

Are you sure? 8 million? Some other commentary guy said 12 million.

THE PRESIDENT: Well, first of all, I have constantly said that we need to have a immigration policy that helps match any willing employer with any willing employee. It makes sense that that policy go forward. And we're in the process of working that through now so I can make a recommendation to the Congress.

Let me also clarify something. This administration is firmly against blanket amnesty.

Check out F.A.I.R.'s (the National lobbying group) website and their article about Bush's newest AMNESTY. I believe you can look through their website for more information. It seems the original article came out last Wednesday (Christmas Eve).

Well yeah, but why bother with real solutions when one can jump up and down, holler, and blame everything on the Mexicans?

Round the illegals up and ship them to the country of their origin.

Never happen, and we all know it. Imagine being the president responsible for ordering the National Guard to go around rounding up women and children at gunpoint and sticking them in camps for processing and deportation. How would that play on TV? Other than fringe right-wingers, there would be very few people in this country who would support such a move.

No, guard the border and focus on assimilation.

Then you need to make sure you shop on 1/12, to offset what concerned Americans are trying to do.

Bush DOES NOT listen to his majority base. Our economy suffering for a couple of days shows us that yes, indeed, we still have power. What a terrible thing.

Guest worker program is the same thing.

No, it isn't. Amnesty grants a blanket pardon to all illegals in the US. A guest worker program gives a temporary pass to workers only.

They already broke the law, making them criminals. They should NOT be rewarded, just deported.

Then lets at least secure our borders.

Agreed. Doing that would eliminate the majority of the problem. Turn the illegal flow into a relative trickle (say, 20K a year- you can never get it down to zero) and pump resources into assimilating everyone who is already here, then do some sort of gradual, rolling amensty.

Have you even read what they're talking about doing? The "guest worker" program will lead to eventual citizenship, it's the same damn thing!

I believe we have closer to 20 million illegals in this country. California had 3 million alone in 2000. We have got to be closer to 5 million all by ourselves right now.

8 million is the number that everyone uses. Why? Census reports, I believe, but 8 is the magic number.

Tom Ridge even made outrageous statements about legitimizing illegals. I believe it was a precursor to Bush's talks about amnesty.

If your argument is legality -- then it seems amnesty solves it by satisfying the legal requirement.

YEAH! That's it! Lets just ignore the immigration laws we're not enforcing alltogether! Its like a warden saying to a prisoner who was convicted of a felony "There are too many prisoners, so we're going to let you go and all the prisoners currently in prison...and set you all free so that we'll have the space for all the future convicts."

Anything else?

*rolls eyes*

2) What is the alternative solution. Round the illegals up and ship them to the country of their origin.

What constitutional way is there to round up all the illegals? What are you going to do, have troops go door to door and make every person show their papers?
