That is really depressing.

maybe he should sue nations like Ghana too. Their chiefs and kings were in on the trade.
aside: something about newsmax's style really bugs me. this terrible writing style gets in the way. especially these "headline" pieces in the left margin - i'm assuming that's where this is from on the newsmax page - i didn't check, but it reminds me of all the (limbacher?) stuff i've read there.
i really hate when they do the "we digress" thing or when columnists use words like "ilk". Frisa used to do this all the time, luckily he's gone i think. /rant...hope this doesn't make me a lingual elitist or something

I think most blacks in America say "How could you know this?" How do you know that the people that were stripped from Africa and sent to america or that died on the slae ships in route were not the ones that would have made a difference in Africa through the generations? So, only by viewing the world as it is today can you make this statement that america was a saving grace for the decendents of slaves that died and were oppressed here. But how do you know that it would not have been just as good in Africa if Africa had been left alone?
Although I do not believe in reparation maybe blacks are not concerned with the slave problem in Africa because it is not America.

THis makes no sense. This is like saying a person that won a law suit against Ford motor company must agree never to buy a car by Ford. Or a person that won in the lawsuit against the Tobacco companies must move from states that have those companies or benefit from corporate taxes from those companies.

The suit names: The King of Spain, the Queen of England, the Pontiff, President Bush, and Jaques Chirac; the governors of Illinois, Virginia, Louisiana and Texas; nine ports; several major sugar, gun, tobacco, and railroad companies; many, many banks and even Bacardi Rum.

But not the Dutch?

When you say they, who are you refering to..There are many that do not believe in reparation and you are using the actions of some to define the entire race.
As Condi Rice states;" See me as a person first".

I haven't been able to confirm this, but I heard the plaintiff sued himself--accidentally.

"Like the editors, I would love to know who in that group still owns slaves."

The only ones still owning slaves are not named in the law suite, namely the democRAT party.

As reparation he should be awarded a one way ticket back to Africa

That is exactly what Calypso Louie Farakhan is asking for as part of the reparations. Free transportation to Africa, for any Black who wishes to relocate.

That was part of his comments to Barbara Wah-wah in an interview some several years ago. Perhaps now he has revised his thinking.

No, he still believes this as well as saying any blacks that accept money for reparation should not demand any further assistance from the government or not be allowed to collect any assistance from the government.

Brown added that "Slavery was and is an illegal criminal enterprise," a point that is clearly not true; slavery is certainly immoral, wrong, horrific and heinous - but it was, unfortunately, legal in the South at the time.

It was legal and practiced in the North too.

Yeah. Even though it wouldn't surprise me if liberals try to say it, I'm certain President Bush has never owned slaves. Just as I'm certain that Jesse Jackson and any Black Panther, former or otherwise, was ever a slave in the U.S. Although it has been reported that Khadafi and his buddy Louie Farrakahn have in the past been engaged in the modern day slave trade in Africa.

Reparations would harm people who never owned slaves and reward people who never were slaves.

Excellent point! It bears repeating. Thanks!

You know when he gave that interview, I did not really have too big of a problem with the conditions/scenario he laid out.

Mind you though, I am against it in principle, but his terms were far different then what I expected and had they been offered by White and not a Black, they would have been termed as a vile form of racisim.

"ship em all back to Africa" kind of illogic.

He does have one point though. The Guv of Illinois is a RAT. If any political party has furthered slavery among American black people, it is the DemocRATic Party.

I have always been mystified by racial grievance mongers who pontificate on the glorious Nirvana that their lives would be had they only been left in Mother Africa. Since most American blacks have some measure of Caucasian genealogical ancestry, and since slavery was the transmission belt that enabled the mixing of their black and white ancestor's gene pools,(whether by rape, semi voluntary or voluntary associations) than what they are really saying is that they and their decendents would rather not exist.

I acknowledge the kidnapping and suffering of my African ancestors, and the resultant decades of slavery, oppresion, and discrimination that amounted to a monstrous crime for them. But the result was me and my family living in a nation that provides the most lberty and opportunity for any African descended people on earth. I am profoundly grateful to be here. the historical record should be properly contextualized, and honestly examined. The endless racial navel gazing, racial identity posturing, and puffed up grievance mongering should be rejected for the PC irrelevance that it is.

This is nothing more than a cultural Marxist wealth redistribution scheme.
