Heard this on Fox.
American Airlines flight 4959. They do not know the reason; if it is security or mechanical concerns.
Ah, now Fox reporting the flight departed a "short time ago" and for reasons unknown diverted. Original destination was Reagan International. Reporting usually this type of thing is done if someone stands up when they're not to or something.

They say American....but with a flight number like that, I would say its a commuter plane...maybe American Eagle.....likely put in the wrong squak code and were diverted.

Fox saying some ramblings about miscommunications, passengers standing up when they should have been sitting....sorry, Fox is just as out of it as I am at the moment.

Probably caused by some jerk that couldn't accept the fact that they weren't going to give him/her another beer before landing.

Apparently, the intoxicated passenger was wearing a crusty, foul-smelling black pant suit and get muttering something about wanting to crash an airplane into a gas station in St. Louis, MO.
When the flight attendant, Linda Goldstein, asked her to stay seated, the woman in the crusty, black pant suit called her a F*cking Jew Ba*stard. Then she started yelling about how she was good friends with Arafat's wife, and that they had kissed and she'd see to it that Goldstein never worked again.
As they removed her from the plane she reportedly threw a $1,000 dollars at Goldstein and challenged her to turn it into $100,000 dollars. Authorities are currently questioning her.

I wish someone one explain to me how these "lists" are even relevant. If a terrorist is going to board a plan, surely his handlers are smart enough to use fake ids and names. Our country is crawling with identity theft, I am can only imagine it is worse overseas. JMO

Fox is reporting that a bomb threat was passed via paper note by a passenger. Way to go, sporto. Fox is also reporting that SEVERAL passengers are being detained.
To: Patriot1998
Fox reported that the flight involved here is American Airlines Flight 4959, from La Guardia to Ronald Reagan Airport.
To: Patriot1998
FOX News reports the reason for the flight diversion was a passenger passed a note to the flight attendant that he had a bomb ! She alerted the pilot who got instruction to go to Dulles instead of Reagan ...

The F.N.C. anchors are truly clueless on this one....Female anchor: "NTSB spokesperson told us that passenger handed..." NTSB? I don't think so...try TSA. Male anchor:"...have you notified all towers/airlines of this incident Mr. TSA?" Huh? Fox anchor quality takes a big dive on the weekends.

The reason why is that ATC does not screw around with clearances into Reagan. If a plane does not follow their instructions to the letter they are immediately diverted to Dulles, which is the alternate. Since the winds are blowing out of the NW it seems likely that the A/C was on the ILS 1 approach and failed to follow instructions. Apparently, that's a big no-no there.
CN 18F, I'll dig up the chart and post it later.

FOX News, yet again, reported a story BEFORE all the facts were in.
The FBI said ther was no terrorist threat on this flight.
Just one of the 5 media giants trying to get raings.
