Yup remember him very well. One of my moms favorite memories was my sister and I at a local eatery going through the "sundae bar" and singing that bit from "My Home Town"
...he killed his mother-in-law and ground her up REAL well, and sprinkled just a bit over each banana split..."
Mom says the other patrons looked absolutely horrified and my sister and I just laughed.
Great childhood memories, also the Irish Ballad was priceless. As far as I know some of his stuff still gets airplay in markets that are lucky enough to have the Dr. Demento show.

CFR is becoming a farce. One company after another has been announcing the formation of its own PAC and announcing that all company donations will now be made through the PAC. Microsoft, just announced that their PAC would be donating thousands of dollars to Patty Murray (Osama Mama). I saw that BP had announced a PAC and a few more that I can't remember.
We should all send John McCain a thank you note for all the good his campaign finance bill has done the country.

Congressman, would you be so kind as to launch a vanity asking what happened to Saddam?
I'm plum outta vanity points. :o)
But I am curious as hell. He's dropped off the radar.

When it's fiesta time in Guadalajara,
Then I long to be back once again
In Old Mexico.
Where we lived for today, never giving a thought to tomara.
To the strumming of guitars,
In a hundred grubby bars
I would whisper "Teo amo."*
The mariachis would serenade,
And they would not shut up till they were paid.
We ate, we drank, and we were merry,
And we got typhoid and dysentery.**
But best of all, we went to the Plaza de Toros.
Now whenever I start feeling morose,
I revive by recalling that scene.
And names like Belmonte, Dominguin, and Manolete,***
If I live to a hundred and eight-tay,
I shall never forget what they mean.
For there is surely nothing more beautiful in this world than the sight of a lone man facing single-handedly a half a ton of angry pot roast!
Out came the matador,
Who must have been potted or
Slightly insane, but who looked rather bored.
Then the picadors of course,
Each one on his horse,
I shouted "Olé!" every time one was gored.
I cheered at the banderilleros' display,
As they stuck the bull in their own clever way,
For I hadn't had so much fun since the day
My brother's dog Rover
Got run over.
Rover was killed by a Pontiac. And it was done with such grace and artistry that the witnesses awarded the driver both ears and the tail**** - but I digress.
The moment had come,
I swallowed my gum,
We knew there'd be blood on the sand pretty soon.
The crowd held its breath,
Hoping that death
Would brighten an otherwise dull afternoon.
At last, the matador did what we wanted him to,
He raised his sword and his aim was true.
In that moment of truth, I suddenly knew
That someone had stolen my wallet.
Now it's fiesta time in Akron, Ohio,
But it's back to old Guadalajara I'm longing to go.
Far away from the strikes of the A.F. of L. and C.I.O.*****
How I wish I could get back
To the land of the wetback******,
And forget the Alamo,
In Old Mexico. Olé!

I'll have to get ahold of some of his songs again. He was really funny, timeless. There is so much truth in some of the songs like this one.

I guess the lyrics are all out there on the net. Too much trouble to put in all the line breaks, this 'twill have to do.
Id like to take you now on wings of song, as it were, and try and help you forget perhaps for a while your drab, wretched lives. heres a song all about spring-time in general, and in particula Out one of the many delightful pastimes the coming of spring affords us all.
Spring is here, a-suh-puh-ring is here. Life is skittles and life is beer. I think the loveliest time of the year is the spring. I do, dont you? course you do. But theres one thing that makes spring complete for me, And makes evry sunday a treat for me.
All the world seems in tune On a spring afternoon, When were poisoning pigeons in the park. Evry sunday youll see My sweetheart and me, As we poison the pigeons in the park.
When they see us coming, the birdies all try an hide, But they still go for peanuts when coated with cyanide. The suns shining bright, Evrything seems all right, When were poisoning pigeons in the park.
Lalaalaalalaladoodiedieedoodoodoo
Weve gained notoriety, And caused much anxiety In the audubon society With our games. They call it impiety, And lack of propriety, And quite a variety Of unpleasant names. But its not against any religion To want to dispose of a pigeon.
So if sunday youre free, Why dont you come with me, And well poison the pigeons in the park. And maybe well do In a squirrel or two, While were poisoning pigeons in the park.
Well murder them all amid laughter and merriment. Except for the few we take home to experiment. My pulse will be quickenin With each drop of strychnine We feed to a pigeon. It just takes a smidgin! To poison a pigeon in the park.

Up in the attic somewhere I have a bunch of old records including some very funny comedy records made by a guy from the same era as Lehrer (early '60s). He was like Rich Little and he did the voices of the politicians of the day (Kennedy, Humphrey, Nixon, Johnson, etc., to a tee. I think his name was Vaughn something..... Anyways, the guy was really, really funny.

Microsoft, just announced that their PAC would be donating thousands of dollars to Patty Murray (Osama Mama).Ha! I was never sure about Bill Gates, so I always tried to give him the benefit of the doubt.
Turns out the guy's a scumbag. Oh well.

When the shades of night are falling,
Comes a fellow evryone knows,
Its the old dope peddler,
Spreading joy wherever he goes.
Evry evening you will find him,
Around our neighborhood.
Its the old dope peddler
Doing well by doing good.
He gives the kids free samples,
Because he knows full well
That todays young innocent faces
Will be tomorrows clientele.
Heres a cure for all your troubles,
Heres an end to all distress.
Its the old dope peddler
With his powdered ha-happiness.

That's him.
If I still had a working turntable I'd go dig those LPs out of the attic.

Send the Marines
When someone makes a move
Of which we don't approve
Who is it that always intervenes
U.N. and O.A.S.
They have their place, I guess
But first send the Marines
We'll send them all we've got
John Wayne and Randolph Scott
Remember those exciting fighting scenes
To the shores of Tripoli
But not to Mississippoli
What do we do, we send the Marines
For might makes right
And 'til they've seen the light
They've got to be protected
All their rights respected
Till somebody we like can be elected
Members of the corps
All hate the thought of war
They'd rather kill them off by peaceful means
Stop calling it aggression
We hate that expression
We only want the world to know
That we support the status quo
They love us everywhere we go
So when in doubt
Send the Marines
