How can this be? The Democrats keep telling us it's a (gasp) QUAGMIRE!

I would like to examine the word "quagmire" and find out what exactly it means. If a quagmire is a situation we feel we are stuck in (and will be for a time to come), then Iraq is a quagmire. If a quagmire is a situation that we are stuck in, and it is going badly, then I don't think Iraq is one. I suppose if people use a twisted definition of the word (not knowing any better) it might seem perfectly obvious to them that no matter how well the situation goes in Iraq, it is a quagmire, merely because we are committed to the country.

"The raids were directed at suspects whose names were on NEW LISTS of terrorists that Army intelligence has compiled recently with the help of Iraqi citizens, military officials said."

I hope they brought enough decks of cards for everyone. Love how our guys play "52-card pickup"!

Interesting and thoughtful take on the matter. Well, if they consider a long-term commitment to any endeavor to be a "quagmire," I'm left to wonder if they consider marriage, child rearing and seeking to lead a moral life to be "a quagmire."

It would explain a great many things about the Left...   ; )

A quagmire is a war that the dims have started, (Vietnam by Kennedy, Korea by Truman). Poorly thought out, no exit strategy, a disaster in the making.

Thank you. Bump for NY Post headlines. (^:

U.S. troops have captured a handful of big-time al Qaeda terrorist suspects in northern Iraq, acting on tips from Iraqis who are increasingly emboldened to help coalition forces after the arrest of Saddam Hussein...including one on Monday, targeted members of al Qaeda and its local affiliate, Ansar al-Islam.

Saddam is GONE, thanks to our awesome troops, and because of this President, ping!

Heh... that sums it up nicely.

One difference between the liberation of Afghanistan and Iraq vs the Korean and Vietnam conflicts is the lack of a superpower opponent.

The Iraqi people are gaining courage. It was something that Saddam sought to stamp out, but it looks like he was unable to kill their courage, only curtail it for awile.
